Re: Mixxx Problem
Yeah it's working really well on the non realitme kernel. Maybe i don't really need the realtime kernel afterall. Most programs seem to be working fine without it.

Re: Mixxx Problem
I thought I got rid of pulseaudio. I removed a couple pulse audio config files from usr/share/alsa directory and the pulse audio connection errors stopped showing up but it still didn't start. It worked when I booted from another kernel (3.11 non realtime). I was using 3.2 realtime. The error says i...

Re: Mixxx Problem
I can't seem to find much regarding this at all. No reply yet on the Mixxx forums. I saw some sort of similar problems on there from last year. I can't tell if anything was resolved. Well I guess it doesn't work anymore and no one cares :? What are some other good ways to do a live DJ set with Linux...

Mixxx Problem
For some reason when I try to launch MIXXX I get this in the terminal and nothing happens. I got it from the tango studio sources I think. Any ideas? unsound@unsoundthinkpad:~$ mixxx Debug [Main]: Mixxx 1.11.0 "(bzr r3862; built on: Nov 6 2013 @ 20:58:24; flags: bulk hid hifieq mad optimize qde...

Re: If you could live-edit a plugin in Ardour a la max4live.
Sounds like a great idea. The only question I would have is: Why not use Pure Data? (I think radium tracker has this). It's hard to say what i'd do with it because I'm currently still learning how to use pure data. Right now I'm using PD patches to build different chord progressions with Midi number...

Re: Bitwig 1.0 is out!
a KVR post said it does Bitwig William Huang: Good question! Bitwig comes with Plugin Delay Compensation. And what most people want to know: Yes, it also compensates the plugin delays for the automation as well as for the VST-timing. 33 minutes ago · Like · 6 but maybe I can check later tonight when...

Re: Tracktion5 has arrived
I'm really liking Tracktion right now. I think it's the most unique DAW in concept and design. It feels like they are trying to make music production more like painting a picture or building a model or puzzle or something. It's workflow is different and I feel like if I could get used to it it could...

Re: Bitwig 1.0 is out!
It appears Bitwig is still sorting out some stability issues as of 1.0.5 (for the Linux version at least). I get some random x-runs while switching between clips and it even freezes my entire system from time to time. Ever since I swiched to Solydx my system has been very stable. Other programs like...

Re: Bitwig 1.0 is out!
Just got the demo last night and It looks pretty neat. Really stable and smooth seeming workflow. I guess I need more time with it as I couldn't get jack working immediately. It's not really super straightforward to me either so It'll take some time to get used to. Even though I don't like closed so...

Re: Tracktion5 has arrived
I am using it and it works very well in general. I love the concept and they put out another version 5.2.2 with cool stuff like groove for the step sequencer. The main problems are still some glitches with LADSPA(selecting one plugin selects another instead) and VST(still can't use the black eq). Th...

Re: Interface box recommendation?
I have a fucusrite saffire pro 40 firewire interface with 8mic pre's with combo jacks. It works great with ffado drivers and cost $500. You might want to go with a usb device instead of firewire just to save any hardware/compatibility issues down the line. I saw that Alesis just put out the Core 8 w...

Re: Looking to replicate synth sound
Thats a pretty trancy sound. I think it might be kind of like a supersaw. I have trouble creating those myself. You might try combining a bunch of saw waves and detuning some up or down a few cents. Add some white noise or distortion/overdrive and a big room reverb and you might start to get close. ...

Re: Here's soMe music I made
Debussy is nice. I just heard some Franz Liszt peice and it reminded me so much of the Jazz standard Autmn Leaves. I wonder if one inspired the other in some way.
