Re: M'aidez! M'aidez!
I'm guessing you're referring to the test tones in kmixer... Which hints at a few things I could suggest, but I'll wait and see, because I wrote a long post, but then everyone else basically asked the same things

Re: KX mini manual
Great stuff guys. Remember the most important thing about documentation is that it caters to the intended audience. As important as I personally believe the matter to be, and as simple as free beer/free speech/ etc may seem to some of us, it's foreign and confusing to most newcomers. I think it's be...

Re: Plugin idea.
When Microsoft/TwelveTone made the DXi standard, there was a DXi-VSTi wrapper plugin that worked just like this. It was a pain. I've never seen anyone run any plugin non-natively without issues. It seems to me that the development work involved in something like this, would be better put to other us...

Re: Package requests here! (New and updates)
Soundkonverter please: http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/soundKonverter?content=29024 The new 2.0 release (or the rc's leading up to it also) is really superb in covering everything. Having a nice GUI, best sound file konverter program like this is ideal for KXStudio and should be included in th...

Re: DVD playing issue
Note that is not an issue with the DVD playback, but with encryption. For the uninitiated - this means that DVDs will play just fine without it, if they are not encrypted with CSS. It's only when you try to play an encrypted DVD that you will get an error message. CSS is essentially copy protection...

Also you can just manually install libdvdcss and it's dependencies, or a metapackage that contains it, such as the nonfree meta

Re: Why is JACK such a POS?
Edit: Added shouting. for pete's sake why? :( I don't understand either... (I edited the post and removed the 'shouting') Please people, behave yourselves. Go out and have fun, it's weekend! Because he didn't hear me the first time. It wasn't rude shouting, just highlighting. I tried bold, but the ...

Re: Why is JACK such a POS?
Edit: Added shouting. What I really wanted from JACK is just stability. ASIO4all is very easy to work with and very flexible hardware-wise, and my Steinberg device has a driver that makes things even easier, but there's a cost. JACK is very stable for the vast majority of its users.... But I know yo...

Re: Why is JACK such a POS?
hebjuzeb, you might do well to distinguish between "I'm having lots of trouble with my PC and I think it might be JACK's fault but I really don't know" and "JACK is this, JACK is that, JACK is the other.". I think that the blurring of the lines between these two things, is what i...

Re: Why is JACK such a POS?
Here is why I am here. I was using Ubuntu Studio 12.04. I just could not get past JACK crashing. I am awaiting the KXStudio download now, but here is my configuration: Sun Ultra 40 M2 w/2 Opteron CPUs 1TB HDD 2 GB RAM TASCAM DAT (yes you read correctly) Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire So after pressing ...
