Re: KDE launchers in KXStudio
I was getting annoyed at the colours/alpha in Lancelot, it was really hard to read (wolftune you know exactly what I mean). I then noticed it uses an extra 100mB of RAM. It's now gone.... So I googled it, and discovered that resizing kickoff requires you to hover over the top-left corner. MUCH bette...

Sorry my bad, I thought that was synaptic. Yeh, I've been using Muon since my recent switch to KDE. I agree, it's nice to keep all the apps using the same frameworks.

Re: My personal KXStudio 12.04.1 experience PART 2
This may me a good time to mention that, since the recent theme updates, Ubuntu software center appears with white text on a white background. Maybe it's just me?
Glad to hear that muon is coming. Synaptic is undoubtedly better, but unusably ugly.

Re: My personal KXStudio 12.04.1 experience PART 3
I guess that a proprietary controlled API that tricks people into thinking they're using the decades old industry standard, makes it easier for steinborg to control and entrap their customers, than developing a new, free and open standard for plugins to use OSC instead of MIDI ...

Re: Claudia UI suggestion
@falkktx Smart move, to wait until later! @zzzxyz I'm always interested in someone else's 2c :) In short, yes! It's perhaps surprising... but if you do same study in graph handling, you'll see how the math is fairly simple... it's the iterations of the algorithms that handle the complexity. Well... ...

Claudia UI suggestion
I guess this is one for you, FalkTX :) One thing I often find myself wishing I could do, in the claudia patchbay: Click port to select it. ctrl+Click a few other ports, now I have several ports selected. Click magic button or something, to make them all connect. or Click port to select it. ctrl+clic...

Re: KDE launchers in KXStudio
FYI, tried takeoff from this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~acelankao/+archive/kde/+packages Instantly hated it. It doesn't show all the apps if they don't fit on screen, handles dual-screen poorly, there is no scrollbar, so you simply can't start most of your apps and it looks ugly..... It's certainly...

Re: [resolved] guitarix dont start
I do agree. For those who consider themselves technically inclined enough to experiment... Then you should also be technical enough to do some serious troubleshooting if it breaks... and if you really are that good, you know to only ever change one thing at a time, and then test it immediately, so i...

Re: KDE launchers in KXStudio
Hah I wonder if I will ever get used to linux... It never occurred to me, that I could get rid of that icky launcher. Sadly, Lancelot is still really poor. One thing I've been using, is an icon and/or keyboard shortcut and/or easystroke gesture, which shows the 'Plasma Dashboard'. Essentially, you g...

Re: blacklist hdmi
If you've blacklisted the module, then the kernel won't load the module for the device, won't communicate with it (not at a level that it would even be aware that the HDMI port is there), so I don't see how it stays broken after blacklisting? If you mean, that you did the blacklisting as above (?).....

Re: My personal KXStudio 12.04.1 experience PART 3
Cubase now includes an AMAZING feature: per-note MIDI automation where pitch and modulation and other controllers can be automated per-note within the same channel (using compatible synths). Isn't that just the same as doing this in REAPER? That's not MIDI. MIDI has one pitchbend, if you have two s...

Haha, classic IT troubleshooting:

Re: blacklist hdmi
I definitely want HDMI outputs from my box for auditioning HD content. blacklist snd_hda_intel Won't that disable all Intel HDA cards? Those are the standard onboard soundcard for most machines  Edit: What stuff is this supposed to fix? Are there bugs filed so that drivers can be fixed?

Re: alsa-jack(plugin) or alsa-loop-jack?
I didn't really go for use cases, I just wanted it to be as transparent as possible - I run 8 channels in and out of my pc, they're available on the real alsa card, they're available in jack... I guess it comes down to a desire for symmetry or something, I'd like them to be there in the loopback, to...
