Re: DDP images support in KXStudio?
I think you'll find it's easier to get a mastering house to support a standard that has existed and been widely used and accepted for decades (ISO and a hash like an MD5 or SHA1 or whatever), than to get open-source support for proprietary stuff that hardly anyone wants and is obsoleted by the afore...

Re: New KXS user...
Just to share my opinion, I don't entirely agree. I've found that the machines I have built from the live ISO doesn't suffer from some of the kde vs xfce vs gnome integration issues I've seen, after installing over Ubuntu Studio 12.04 (xfce-based). I suppose, if you're going to install it from a sta...

Re: Peavey PV8 usb mixer not appearing in Catia
Go into jack configuration in cadence and select this device from the drop-down list as the new master backend, and restart jack, and you should see it. (I notice that audacity / aplay -l report it as hw:3,0, and your first soundcard is selected by default.) Alternatively, you can use alsa_in and al...

Re: Netjack
Solved! :D jack_control is the app I was hoping for. It allows me to configure the jack server as started by cadence, and stop and start it from within cadence, everything works like normal. On the client, audio and midi ports are created and that sends to / from the master. In order to be able to u...

Re: Netjack
I would be keen to help with that.... Time permitting ;) It's not so much that I want a GUI to configure netjack... It's that I don't want to break claudia because I use it for patching. I have had this working today, it was very simple. On my master, I typed jack_load netmanager at a shell. That's ...

Re: Netjack
Thanks for the help man. I was trying to avoid using the CLI to start jack, as I gather that cadence/Claudia won't be fully functional that way? Or can I still start jack with cadence, and then configure it for netjack with something else? I had noticed ~/.config/jack/conf.xml was the current config...

Re: AMS and mx44
Yes, thanks.. a very intelligent idea! :) I opened it through the terminal, and it seemed to work fine, but when I looked at the input in the terminal I saw that I was getting a constant flow of this message: Unsupported MIDI event received (type = 42) Unsupported MIDI event received (type = 36) No...

Re: Can't find bristol to try it out.
I tested this and to be sure, the levels on B3 were lower than most... But they were fine once I made changes to the patch. I think this is just a symptom of the default patch that it loads when you open the synth.Alwaysanewb wrote:One thing bristol is quieter than all the other synths on here

Netjack
Hi All,
So, I know there's no GUI support for netjack in cadence... but if I wanted to get it working, which would be the right config file?

If you run AMS from the command line, then it will show you errors as it exits. That could help you source the fault?

Re: DDP images support in KXStudio?
I've never heard of DDP before and honestly I don't see what it provides that could not be achieved with an ISO and an MD5 sum... aside from proprietary lock-in.

Re: nullmailer: Unneeded process using resources?
Aha my mistake, it went in as a dependency of (a dependency of a dependency of) zoneminder, and then the cron scripts started using it by magic. I do use zoneminder for studio security though, and now that I notice it, nullmailer is the easy way to have alarm events sent to email, so I've reinstalle...

nullmailer: Unneeded process using resources?
Hi All, I noticed in my syslog, a lot of errors from nullmailer. After some investigation, I found that minor errors were found by the cron-daily and cron.weekly jobs, and those errors were placed in nullmailer's queue, to send to an external server... However, there is no server setup by default, s...
