I had a similar problem recently. I got round it by using qjackctl to connect the input to 'system playback' to get monitor.

I use ZynAddSubFX or I use qsynth soundfont host with a decent soundfont.

Re: Plugin for multiplying voices into a choir

In Ardour you can copy audio to a new track, then under the right click options when you click the clip, you can transpose either by octaves or semitones for harmonies or a small amount ('cents') for doubling. You can either slightly move the audio clip or use any number of delay plug ins for furthe...

Re: 2 usb interfaces at once?

I have managed to get an internal soundcard & a USB one running together, I don't know if the method will work for you, see:

Re: USB based linux for live performance?

There is a piece of software called remastersys that is for turning a running system in to a live CD. I have successfully used it on Bodhi, which is Debian/Ubuntu based.

Re: 2 soundcards to record 4 tracks. [SOLVED]

Hi I set up jack for the alesis & then added the soundcard. I would not relish trying to sync tracks after 2 passes. I do not think the cassette transport is that reliable & minor variations mean you could be on to a hiding to nowhere. Ultimately 'the proof of the pudding is in the eating' &...

Re: 2 soundcards to record 4 tracks.

Just managed to use this to record four simultaneous tracks in Ardour (Stereo drum machine, guitar Vocals)

The only other thing I needed to do was connect the on board soundcard to the system playback using qjackctl to get monitor (through the usb soundcard) while playing.

Re: 2 soundcards to record 4 tracks.

Since asking managed to find this:

http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=56492

now have 4 inputs showing in qjackctl after running

Code: Select all

alsa_in -j on-board -d hw:0 -c 2 -p 4 -n 512 -r 48000

in a terminal. Have yet to be able to try it out with the 4 track.

2 soundcards to record 4 tracks. [SOLVED]

Hi I have some old 4 track cassette work I would love to remix & remaster. the problem is I neither have nor can afford a 4 track interface. I have an Alesis io2usb soundcard as well as a 24 bit capable soundblaster. I have Googled but not found anything I can comprehend or use. Is there any way...

Re: removing audio from a flv file

If you want to do it the GUI way you can do it with VLC. Just choose convert/save from the media menu & use the options there. It offers mp3 or flac.

Re: USB based linux for live performance?

If you dislike pulse audio, I think you will find AVLinux makes a point of not having it.

Re: Setting up Laptop

Hi As kind of a sequel, thanks Pablo I didn't know that. Having said that I do find using the export facility on Hydrogen & importing the resultant audio in to Ardour easier. Even more interesting is that Hydrogen will export the different parts of the kit as separate files, so you can import th...

Re: USB based linux for live performance?

I regularly use Ubuntu Studio on a keypen (for indoor use, not live I must add) and it performs quite well. If you use unetbootin to install it to the pendrive it can create a file (casper-rw) that will store your changes, so you can install the software you need if it is not part of the basic packa...

Re: Alsamixer - All levels to zero after reboot

Hi

From the command line use the alsactl command to save the alsamixer state. On my ('buntu based) system you need to be root so I use:

Code: Select all

sudo alsactl store

Re: mx44 segmentation fault

I am not familiar with Gentoo but do I understand correctly that emerge automatically downloads & compiles the application for you? Have you tried manually downloading the package from the programmers site http://web.comhem.se/luna/ and compiling it yourself to see if that works? There is a 'Rea...
