Re: The best Linux DAW's in 2019?

I am a recording musician (as opposed to a programming one, except some drums on hydrogen and a bit of keys for colour) so Mixbus has proved best for me. It not only sounds good, it has a sane selection of tools built into the mixer such as eq, compression/ limiting, high pass filter, a master bus l...

I am not a great singer, but you must learn to sing from your gut, not your throat. Lots of vids online

Re: Korg Nanokontrol2 Ardour/ Mixbus How To

How To: This method uses Alsa and works with Ardour and Mixbus. To alter assignments a three button mouse is required. Please make sure the Nanokontrol2 is started before starting Ardour. To assign any control, hold down CTRL and right click on the mixer control (e.g. a fader) with the middle mouse ...

Re: Kong Nanokontrol2 tips please

https://github.com/Pierousseau/reaper_generic_control A reaper user was in the same boat, and made a plugin for nanokontrol 2 Between the win reaper version in wine, and the linux version, you might get lucky. Cheers Thanks, the Mixbus videos are promising too. If I succeed I will post the result. ...

Korg Nanokontrol2 Ardour/ Mixbus How To

Edit: See further post below for a brief How To

Just got a Nanokontrol2 for Christmas and am looking to use it with Mixbus and Ardour.

Re: DEBIAN + LIQUORIX LOW LATENCY KERNEL

I have used Debian stable with the liquorix kernel for years with no problems. Add in the KXStudio repositories and it is a winning combination. I just added Liquorix as per the instructions on their site.

Re: Ardour - support only for official builds?

The sense of entitlement in a couple of the posts here is breathtaking.

If you are not happy you can always exercise your free choice not to use it

Re: Advice on Stereo to Mono

The other option is a small mono mixer. At one time you used to be able to get 4 into 1 mixers relatively cheap.

Re: Tip: poor man's fader

To bad you didn't know and couldn't ask. I knew and would have told you. Know this? The same goes for the slides and (round) knobs in plugins. Not till recently, and I have been doing this a long time. I just love the way it feels like a fader so you can massage a track in a mix. Mouse drags...

Tip: poor man's fader

(Apologies if you know this, it is new to me)

If you have a mouse pad with a scroll bar and use Ardour or Mixbus; if you click on the fader knob on the screen, the scrollbar becomes the fader. I did not know this and am finding it very useful for recording automation. It may work in other DAWs.

Re: XRUNS on native linux DAWs

Disabling networking really worked. Just curious per my previous comment, was it wifi or ethernet? I would imagine that wifi is more demanding, but I still haven't tested my audio with an ethernet cable plugged in and active. If it were me, I would not have anything running that is not necessary fo...

Re: XRUNS on native linux DAWs

I found installing cpufrequtils and setting the CPU governor to performance helped. There is a test utility that you can run on your system, I do have the details on my PC when I can get to it. Perhaps in the meantime someone else can post it. I also get better results out of the Liquorix kernel th...
