Re: Clap support in a Linux App

Oh hell. I currently use QTractor and MUSE to test my LV2 plugs. I was just finishing up testing the latest batch in QTractor thinking "Now I need to get a clap host to test", and never even noticed the clap entry in Q. Damn that Rui is sneaky. I thought he was doing Pipewire stuff. He has...

Clap support in a Linux App

Is there a Linux native app that has working support for Clap plugins? I'm getting close to starting the No Budget plugins move to clap format. I'll need a host to test the plugins, and it can't be a Windows app because my development system doesn't have WINE installed (and I'm not going to install ...

Re: Sitala no more Linux support

U-he model is... a script A bash script? If so, I presume you first have to go into its Properties to set the executable permission bit (or issue chmod) on that script? And then you need to run it from a terminal window? And I presume it has no graphical UI (ie, all user interaction is via typing t...

I just bought a new instrument! Here's a picture of it. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b3/2023_Kazoo_%281%29.jpg/800px-2023_Kazoo_%281%29.jpg It has a built-in hum-phucker pickup (not to be confused with humbucker. Hum-phucker is a different company started by a disgruntled e...

Re: Sitala no more Linux support

if it's so darn hard to create a .deb or .rpm that'll work for everybody Well that's the thing. A deb or rpm can never work "for everyone". In addition to linux devs constantly reinventing the wheel with the result that you have no standards, compatibility, or reliability with software (i...

Re: Sitala no more Linux support

One simply drops the .dll or .so file in the proper directory. It may not be that simple. First of all, maybe the plugin is comprised of several files. For example, a No Budget plugin consists of a small stub that contains logic specific (ie unique) to that plugin. (For an LV2 plugin, examples of t...

A guitar? What a disappointment. I thought it was going to be an interesting new instrument. In other words, a new keyboard.

The guitar is so 1950's.

Re: Continuing the jack/pipewire debate...

<PulseAudio> didn't work out so well. On the contrary, it has been extremely successful in terms of adoption. Even music production apps have implemented PulseAudio support (which I think is utterly pointless). It's almost ubiquitous at this point. It's just that PulseAudio wasn't meant to be a gst...

Don't worry about the moderators. They're too busy doing what your term describes to notice.

Re: I Agree

Why did rncbc thank Bluebell and gmaq for their endorsement of QTractor? Oh wait. Rui is a bit more subtle at promoting his stuff than that NoBudget guy, who is constantly flogging his ugly software. Although I will admit, the NoBudget stuff is fantastic, and nobody should be without it. ___________...

Free Open-Source, Piano Modeling Plugin

It appears that some OSS developers have developed a free, open source piano modeling plugin (ie, a la PianoTeq). It's called "Piano Forte". They've released it in VST3 and LV2 formats. I listened to the demo, and it sounds a bit like a Yamaha Electric Grand. It's not convincing as a real ...

Re: [Solved] Pipewire interfering with JACK

Just use apt to remove pipewire from your system. I did that with the latest Debian release, and those PIPEWIRE problems are gone.

Unfortunately, it looks like Pipewire may keep creeping in via "dependency hell". But as often as they keep seving it up, I'll keep feeding it to the dog.
