Re: [Arch] - Help with PKGBUILD - realtimeconfigquickscan-git
Thanks Joermungand, really appreciated. I have just a question: install is not exactly used the way it should be; it’s supposed to copy things, not create them. So you should install files individually (a for loop is probably useful here), using the -D option to create necessary path nodes; when you...

[SOLVED][Arch] - Help with PKGBUILD - realtimeconfigquickscan-git
Hi there, this topic is related to The Audio Configuration Checklist . I am trying to bring realtimeconfigquickscan-git back to the AUR. These are my references. I have got a working PKGBUILD: # Maintainer: CrocoDuck <crocoduck.oducks@gmail.com> # Contributor: Giancarlo Bianchi <giancarlobianchi76@g...

Re: The Audio Configuration Checklist
Maybe I will add a simple script that reads the output of quickscan and redirects the "not good" fields to the relative Arch wiki pages. I'd be happy to include them in the realtimeconfigquickscan output itself, just send a PR at https://github.com/raboof/realtimeconfigquickscan :) Brilli...

Re: The Audio Configuration Checklist
Ok cool people, here what I think it could be a better idea: do the Arch way. The PKGBUILD will just install the very basic package dependencies for a workstation (jack, pam and rtirq). tlp, linux-rt, cpupower and similar will be listed as optional. The configuration files placed by the package them...

Re: The Audio Configuration Checklist
Thanks guys. Really appreciated. I confess that, indeed, I am scared by messing automatically (or semi-automatically) with conf files. gimmeapill, your point about measurements are pretty right. I am starting coding my "measurement suite" in Julia. Julia performs very well and can be run, ...

Re: The Audio Configuration Checklist
As for the prebuilt optimization package, I don't particularly like the idea to make assumptions and apply optimizations blindly - too many configuration variants. It should at least test the configuration (memory, hdds, cpu) and ask a few questions like: "pick up your favorite sound card from...

The Audio Configuration Checklist
Hi there! As you know guys many of the pages we are used to refer to when configuring the system are kinda getting old. As such, I would like to make a list of the most fundamental audio tweaks and hear from you if you think they are "up to date". During installation, avoid to format parti...

No. But if you are desperate with overruns give it a go.philippeg wrote:hi,

Re: is JAMin dead??
I did not realized Jamin was dead until recently. I always used it to... "master"... my stuff. I used quotes cause I don't quite know how to master properly. Or how to do anything music related properly... Anyway, I am one of the guys that really like Jamin. I have tried to master using in...

Re: MAudio 2496 and new motherboard
If this is a half recent motherboard it must use a kind of PCI to PCIe bridge to be able to connect legacy PCI cards like the 2496 I remember the very same thing. I think I have actually posted a troubleshooting page from a soundcard manufacturer mentioning possible bandwidth problems. Probably it ...

Re: microphone trouble
Hi there, as other guys said, low latency should not be needed if you are interested in playback. As such, not even rt or lowlatency kernels. Just try to make the Frames/Period variable in jack BIG (>= 1024). Xrun should not happen. You could also increase Periods/Buffers. Although rt kernels are us...

Re: [SOLVED] rtirq "finer" tuning
The Tuna suite is in the AUR, the other tools might be interesting as well (damn, I should pay more attention to jhernberg's packages!): https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/tuna/ I stumbled across that previously. I always been thinking it was kinda overkill or beyond my comprehension. Well, time to...

Re: [SOLVED] rtirq "finer" tuning
Thanks guys . Video drivers should not be a problem for me. I've got this device: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Broadwell-U Integrated Graphics [8086:1616] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Device [1991:5591] Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IR...

Re: [SOLVED] rtirq "finer" tuning
It feels like it is more of a problem on the applications side. Xrun's "every few seconds/minutes" indicate a kernel process which "steal" your CPU time Interesting. Xruns are not clustered though. They appear pretty much randomly. The number per unit time is pretty stable thoug...
