Re: How does one know if an audio interface will work on Linux?
I am not an hardware expert, so I hope the following is correct. You might want to wait for other answers from other users too, as I am fishing this stuff from memory as of now, and sometimes memory is unreliable... My understanding, from this article https://www.learndigitalaudio.com/how-linux-audi...

Re: MUSIC DISTROS
And don't try to dual- or multi-boot AVLinux with another Linux distro: it will mess up your existing GRUB and you will never be able to log in your other Linux distro. Like me last week  . If your not a Linux power user, don't try it! Dual-boot with Windows is no problem. Works! Whoa. Thanks...

Re: Skip the ISO and focus on documentation?
Stop being pedantic. Most users will assume that what's supplied out of the box with 9 out of 10 distros is a "standard" release with a "standard" kernel. Not a PREEMPT kernel which they'll need to install themselves whether through compilation or package. Distros usually don't ...

Re: 16 sample buffer with Arch Linux
It is mysterious to me why an RT kernel did not work with AV linux and did work on Arch. One difference I noticed is that i have microcode installed on Arch, but not on AV. Could that be it? It could be a bug in my processor that microcode fixed. If anyone knows, please share. Unfortunately all it ...

Re: Skip the ISO and focus on documentation?
Adhering to poorly worded documentation like this is what got us into this mess in the first place. Yeah, audio will work with a standard kernel and no tuning and you can even record, but so what? If bad, outdated, documentation is what you are complaining about, than I would suggest to double chec...

Re: Skip the ISO and focus on documentation?
However, the average punter who comes on here asking for help lacks the ability to resolve these kinds of problems yet because some people spread the gospel that "they must use a RT kernel", these users find themselves in a needless bind. I don't see RT kernel recommended over and over no...

Re: 16 sample buffer with Arch Linux
So I installed Arch, thinking that the minimal setup would allow me to see what was going on, and where the issues were. My goal here was 'nothing unnecessary', so I used openbox, and changed system files so it automatically logs in and starts X. Minimally minimal. I installed the linux-rt-lts kern...

I remember Rakarrack having exactly that: http://rakarrack.sourceforge.net/dl.html. I am not sure what the state of the project is.

Re: Tracktion engine now open source
Well, thinking about it some more, looks like you are going to use JUCE anyway when you use the engine... so, the Tracktion engine looks like a sound toolkit-sort-of-thing to start having some fun with. At least after a cursory look. I think you will have anything you need to create that kind of plu...

Re: Tracktion engine now open source
Just finished watching this introductory vid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ko9RWpjUHPc where at a glance, everything seems to be pretty much self contained. As mentioned, i don't know anything from nothing in this realm, so respectfully... Why would i (or anyone else for that matter) find a need...

Re: Tracktion engine now open source
This is totally out of my wheelhouse, but could this possibly be used to build an A/B mix reference and analysis type plugin ? Looks like it. However, you could probably do the same with Faust , at least the DSP code + ugly GUI. Or, use JUCE . Or with Faust + JUCE, which is getting possible nowadays.
