Re: Video Production Project - Grayson Peddie's Computer Cen
Yes I did. It almost felt like a city, but I did put in some mockups for movie theater and shopping mall. It's just a solid block. If only my school had Linux, so that I could make use of open source software and forgo the Adobe products. I'm not spending hundreds of dollars for software that I can ...

Re: Stuck at microsoft eula
Have you tried to shutdown your computer and booting into BIOS to change the order of booting drives? Do you have a restore CD to restore Windows?
I can't be of any help as your post appears vague to me.

Configuring ALSA Mixer During Bootup Stage - Possible?
When I had problems with some problem (like MythTV; not that it matters anyway), I had to reboot my machine. Upon bootup, I heard a low-frequency feedback and I had to quickly turn down my speakers (it's just consumer surround sound speakers). Upon logging into my desktop, I turned up my speakers an...

Re: Ubuntu 12.10 - any testers?
KDE display improvements are pending: http://www.thepowerbase.com/2012/12/kde-gains-magic-monitor-functionality-with-new-kscreen/ Nice! Turning my laptop into a desktop by closing a lid and using my mouse and keyboard is too much trouble. Too late now, as I built my own desktop computer since Novem...

Re: KXStudio tutorials requests
It would be nice if all the audio and video groups could be combined into a single user group during a user creation just to dumb it down for new Linux users, but that would not happen, right? Is it possible to modify the installation process (ubiquity) to add the audio and video group after the use...

Re: KXStudio tutorials requests
I don't think that will work. It's not just the kde settings folder that you need to symlink, it's a whole lot of folders. Why not add an extra user? If you create a new user and want to share settings, just symlink the normal user configs to the new user, like the ~/.mozilla one. You need to make ...

Re: KXStudio tutorials requests
I have a question that I wish to ask: Is it possible to create two directories in the /home/`whoami`/ subfolder like so: .kde-mydesktop .kde-kxstudio And symbolically link either .kde-mydesktop or .kde-kxstudio like so: ln -s .kde-kxstudio .kde .kde-kxstudio is for KXStudio artwork and dark theme, w...

Re: Linux has a new DAW: PyDAW 12.11 released
Jeff, can I make a suggestion? I know you mentioned about starting your own PyDAW forum, so why not do that so that you can stand up for yourself. And not to be harsh, but I think you might want to lighten up just a little. To others, I don't meant a disrespect for anyone, but if I were a DSSI plugi...

If I could shave off 30+ seconds of rendering time in Blender for for multiple frames of animation and encode in webm/ogg format, I'm all for 64-bit.

Re: Linux has a new DAW: PyDAW 12.11 released
Um, Falk, would you please cut jeffh some slack? You are only wasting his time. Why not try PyDAW standalone without a host such as Renoise or QTractor , experiment, and tell him how you like it. Again, forget about QTractor or Renoise. I really think he knows his stuff and he wants to provide a ver...

Hi, jeffh. I am in total support of PyDAW and all of your knowledge of DSP and plugins that you are making. Can I make a suggestion? You might want to not let your discussions distract you. If you have e-mail notifications for monitoring the thread, you might want to turn it off and concentrate in y...

I have Echo Gina 3g, which is a PCI card and an external box that connects to it. Echomixer is provided by alsa-tools-gui.
Install alsa-tools-gui, open KDE Kickoff menu, type "Echo" (no quotes) and you should see "Echomixer."
