Re: Hydrogen and LADSPA effects

I would typically do one at sample at a time, and aim not to do any of the layering within Hydrogen, but have a single highly processed one-shot sample, that is guaranteed to sound consistent because it's been bounced into a single wav file. Here's a more specific example on layering and processing ...

Re: Hydrogen and LADSPA effects

The things I wanted to do with Audacity go waaaaaaaaaaay beyond what can be done with LADSPA send effects... I think my technique is pretty common, as literally every Windows and Mac sampler comes with a "open sample in external editor" function since like the 90s or so.... Although it's d...

Re: For those supporting OpenOctave...

Well, since this thread refuses to die  Developers tend to write software in hopes that as many people as possible will actually use it, otherwise you're pretty much wasting your time if nobody uses it. All developer's will eventually get trolls and hecklers(and maybe even fans and supporte...

Re: Hydrogen and LADSPA effects

Hi Mauser, Thanks for replying... i would recommend to use hydrogen in combination with its jack per-track outputs and an external effect host. The internal effect routing of hydrogen is rather crappy. We're aware of this fact, but up until nobody had the motivation to give it a rewrite. Sounds like...

Re: For those supporting OpenOctave...

With respect, you didn't 'monetize' the project - you just used it to get a job I was able to catapult myself from the upper/mid pay bracket into the top pay bracket for IT professionals because being an open source developer is a big deal to companies with strong Linux operations. Contrast that wi...

Re: For those supporting OpenOctave...

Reaper installer is 6.x meg, and is kicking the competition arse into new marketing modes they never would have considered without that specter on the distant horizon. They fear the code emerging in 2015, enough to change the $$$ structure yesterday. Actually, Reaper isn't necessarily using that mu...

Re: For those supporting OpenOctave...

In my 5 years of experience less than 1 in 10000 people will donate, even if you make it clear that you want/need them to and even if you hand them a complete working OS wrapped in a pretty bow ready to use. Someone with the skill set of falkTX should be receiving enough donations to make a living ...

Re: For those supporting OpenOctave...

@jeffh: LMMS is not Windows, it's a real linux native application. it has a bridge plugin to use Windows VSTs, but you're not forced to use it (and I wouldn't recommend it either). Having ZynAddSybFX built-in in the DAW is a great plus 8) Ah... Nice one... I'll have to give it another try. Does it ...

Re: For those supporting OpenOctave...

Sound quite good, in the bleeding-edge development branch you say, could you give a svn-commandline to fetch this? :) Sure, this should work: svn co https://lmuse.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/lmuse/branches/release_2_0 muse2 cd muse2 sh ./compile_muse.sh #check the name of that script, I forgot what...

Re: For those supporting OpenOctave...

I already have abandoned using Ardour2 in favour of A3 SVN. It does not look that vaporized to me ;-) Granted. it is not as stable and reliable as A2 yet but I can work in it for houre and houres and get good results. YMMV, but for me it wasn't even as stable as you're saying when I tried it, I was...

Re: For those supporting OpenOctave...

Well, they did release 3 beta versions in the past 6 months - there's probably plenty of projects that are less productive, though I haven't looked at how much actually changes between beta's. They've been developing Ardour3 for many years now, and here we are mid-2012, and the latest Ardour3 beta ...

Re: For those supporting OpenOctave...

I' d recommend all to tone down the discussion a bit and the OOM-devs to cut their promises back to size, talk openly about problems and please, for your own good: rewrite the texts on your website in the state of absolute sobriety. I think you're a little late to the party, I'm pretty sure that th...

Re: samplers?

If you don't mind living on the edge, you can use my sampler that I first started writing about a month ago  http://libmodsynth.sourceforge.net/images/euphoria-screen.png It works, although it's nowhere near feature complete yet. You can find it here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/libmods...

Hydrogen and LADSPA effects

Would it be correct to say that it only supports using LADSPA effects as sends, and not as inserts on the individual drum cells? If that's not correct, could somebody explain how to do it? Bonus question: Is there a way to link the samples in it to an external editor like Audacity? For example, doub...
