Re: KXS 12.04 or 14.04?
Another question...does the KXS 14.04b_64bit have the improvement implemented what you guys are talking about---addressing the ALSA bridge problem?

Re: KXS 12.04 or 14.04?
Ok I've downloaded KXS 14.04b_64 bit and also 14.04.1 LTS Trusty Tahr....how are they different? I suspect I can just install the former over my existing KXS, right? Also, if I do that, how can I also migrate my KXS home partition to a different location, maybe on the same hard drive in it's own sep...

Re: KXS 12.04 or 14.04?
Thank you!! I'm not even aware that I subsribed to their feed. lol Since I seem to get confused from time to time about this matter, all I need to do is unsubsribe, then visit sourceforge as I wish. Simple. So, if falkTX (you) ever offers an upgrade which he supports, how do I know when/if that happ...

KXS 12.04 or 14.04?
I'm running KXStudio 12.04 64 bit. I'm not quite sure the right (safe) way to run updates/ upgrades. I use Synaptic instead of Muon because that is what I'm used to (Synaptic) while using Ubuntu the past couple years. I get emails from SourceForge.net reminding me of "new updates/upgrades"...

Re: How to properly update KXStudio?
Ok cool, and how do I know if packages are held? BTW, I recall falk TX (head of KXStudio team??) suggest something about using Synaptic for updates, and I do know how to manually invoke that. But he urges us, I think, to "use the KXStudio repositories" to get packages. It's at that point t...

Re: How to properly update KXStudio?
Also, does my KXStudio have popup messages (like I'm used to seeing in Ubuntu Studio),
to let me know when updates are available (like the new Jack, etc...)

How to properly update KXStudio?
I've been using various ubuntu distros the past year or so (fairly newbie here). One thing I'm not settled on, even yet, is the difference, and best way, to keep my distros updated without fear of breaking them. I have Ubuntu Studio 12.04 LTS on one hard drive, KXStudio on another. My KXS is 3.8.0-3...

Re: Sound vs no sound (Ubuntu Studio vs KXStudio)
Might be a silly question, but have you checked alsa mixer, or what ever mixer is appropriate for your interface, to make sure that the output is not muted? Do you have any sound at all in KXStudio? Ok I am making progress! I can now import midi files and play them and connect to Ardour to record t...

Re: Sound vs no sound (Ubuntu Studio vs KXStudio)
I might add that the KXS setup does not work whether I hook its output to my sound card (as in this snapshot) to
all my speakers, or even if I hook it up identically to the US setup.

Sound vs no sound (Ubuntu Studio vs KXStudio)
I've made posts on this forum recently regarding a problem which is now partially solved, thanx to all the awesome support here! :) This is a comparison of results using Ubuntu Studio LTS 12.04.4 LTS on one hard drive, the other drive with KXStudio (latest edition, updated). In both cases I did the ...

Re: What is "MIDI through"?
I haven't tried Catia, but Cadence>tools, yes. From what I understand, Catia in KXStudio is much like Ladish Patchbay in Patchage? It's beginning to look like I now need to start using some sort of patchbay, so I don't have to always reconnect stuff incessantly. I'm at the point now where I'm beginn...

What is "MIDI through"?
After opening JACK (and sometimes PATCHAGE, because it looks better to me), and then say, Muse, sometimes Muse and MIDI Through become automatically connected. 1) What exactly IS "MIDI Through"? 2) Why does inputs and outputs of MIDI Through and MUSE connect as a loop? I don't have any MID...

Re: How to import mid files into Ardour?
Ok, so in my case, since I am not using any MIDI hardware, eg, a keyboard for instance, when I fire up LADISH when I see "MIDI through connected to something, I can just disconnect it? And Drum Gizmo looks kool...I'll read up on it. Since I'm not a drummer is why I want to figure out a way to d...
