Re: Hello from Australia
Welcome Oldmac. We share a similar trajectory except I got a head start on you by a few years. ;) It's a big change, but if you stick with it through the painful moments, it will really pay off. Looking forward to hearing what you come up with using Linux. Also, if you start getting into Ardour and ...

Re: How to reach public?
Put a funny video with some cats on YouTube and use your songs as background music. This is one of those things that is funny because it's true! Maybe not a cat video, but the idea does make sense as a way to get your music out there: attach it to a clip that will be widely shared o...

Re: Creative Commons
An issue (among several) I find perplexing with Creative Commons is that AFAIK they lack a mechanism to easily and clearly license the composition and the recording separately (referred to under copyright law in the US as the PA and SR copyrights respectively). There are a variety of reasons this mi...

Another thanks for bringing back Linux support. Really been getting a lot of use out of the Pultec and Fairchild emulators recently. I love things that sound great with just a couple knobs and at such a reasonable price. Would looooove an LA-2 if you ever run out of ideas

That's amazing indeed. Seems like a great tool for hiding secret messages in EDM pieces.

No installation issues here with the binaries. Working great in Ardour and Mixbus, used it a bunch today.

Re: How to reach public?
I really like Bandcamp for reaching people both as a musician and as a fan. Free account options, any kind of license you want, downloads available in almost any format you can imagine (ogg!), set your own price or pay-what-you-want, and a decent streaming app. It's a very unique place for online mu...

Re: Mixbus manual as a resource for Ardour
Ditto. The manual is thorough and well maintained. I've never had to ask anything on their forums because I can always find my solutions in the manual, just like it should be!

Re: Your vision of the future of Linux audio
in so called reality, things never happen this way even in commercial OSes & ecosystems. they may work out of the box, if one is lucky enough. but also may not work. and some degree of fiddling with software settings before it works as expected is always present. Perhaps, but it is waaay closer...

Re: Your vision of the future of Linux audio
For those who like thinking about this topic (the future of Linux audio), check out Paul Davis' talk at LAC . It's fascinating stuff and he certainly has as much perspective as anyone. For nuts and bolts, there's not much missing as it stands now in the way of tools. But we need users to keep moving...

Re: Rated Blue - 32C Sessions LIVE Digital Album
Congrats Glen! Loving it. What a great challenge to cover these tunes as a trio and keep things sounding dynamic. It must have been tempting to add parts but it sounds like you kept true to the "live" concept.
Also, you got lucky finding that bass player

Re: Will my genius finally be recognized?
This sounds absolutely monstrous in a good way! For my tastes there would be some more dynamics or changes along the way--as it is, it sounds pretty much the same no matter where you drop the needle.
I think it's pretty great though. Solid groove, a nice arrangement, fat synth sounds.
