Klangfreund LUFS and Multimeter
Looks like official Linux versions are released (the Multimeter is new) at klangfreund.com . I've played with a native beta of their LUFS meter before, it's pretty handy the way it works across multiple tracks and can help set up an easy starting point for a mix ( this is an old video, but it shows ...

Re: Ubuntustudio 19.04 Jack Gui with new functionality
Bumping this on release day to see if anyone has tried the new Ubuntu Studio 19.04? I'm mostly curious about Ubuntu Studio Controls (the reason for this thread, which somehow escaped me before). It looks like a nice user-friendly alternative to Cadence or QjackCtl. I'm not looking to hop at the mome...

Re: The Incontinentals - "Brandy"
You guys really have the process down--this is excellent in every regard.
50 years of playing together! All of a sudden I don't feel so old. Why do I have the feeling this didn't take too long to track and the mixing was pretty painless as well?
Edited to note my delight in the band name.

Re: switching from apple to linux
On top of all that it also has a 130 page illustrated User Manual full of detailed information on installing, setting up your system and getting started with Ardour. Even if you don't end up using AV, print and read the manual. It's one of (or maybe THE) best primers for getting started + learning ...

None of this should work, but somehow it all fits together and creates something beautiful. Well done!

Re: funky album produced on the big tux itself
Thanks for dropping this here Mark! Another stellar collection. The tunes are catchy as all get out, and your writing is top notch. You have a great ability to hit that sweet spot between sincere sentiment + cleverness. The move to the bridge in the song "Cheers" sounds like a Brian Wilson...

Re: Spicing up existing vocals
I agree it is hard to interpret what you want to do, but I understand it is challenging to put subtle concepts like this into words and have everyone understand the same thing. I wish people wouldn't be so easily frustrated by this challenge. When you talk about the emotion of the delivery, I think ...

Re: Fair Enough aka The AFAICT Song
I absolutely loved this. Solid pickin' and the way the vocals lift a bit in the last verse brought the ears back around. I heard a little JJ Cale in your voice as well. Looking forward to the clearing of backlog!

Re: New BSR Release - They/Them - "Taster Pack Vol. 1"
If only the Beatles was used Linux, I think they wrote something like this  + some 90s vibes in the guitar and vocal sounds. This is solid stuff! Love the variety of approaches these guys can fit very comfortably inside a song. It sounds straightforward but there are all sorts of thoughtful, ...

Re: Your favourite Linux DAW's in 2019?
Hey, why isn't Jokosher in the poll? :) Well, the maximum number of entries for a poll is 10 which only leaves one more choice left to put on there which I was trying to save for any successful Linux DAW that I was ignorant to. Sorry @Death, it was a bad joke about how things are sooo much better n...

Re: The best Linux DAW's in 2019?
Hey, why isn't Jokosher in the poll? :) For analogue stuff (95% of what I do), my favorite is Harrison Mixbus. I love Ardour and spent years using it, but Mixbus is sooo much easier for me, everything is right where I expect it to be. I also admire Qtractor, but haven't used it very much. I really l...

Re: OverTone DSP PTM-5A Mid-Range EQ V3.0.0
Thanks for the update Mike, just grabbed it. I know it's insane, but part of me wishes you charged at least a little for upgrades. These plugins are already a bargain. I'm curious if you would share roughly what the breakdown is by OS for your customers in recent years? I imagine the Windows market ...

Re: Saturation
Nice. I love to hear that people mix analogue gear in with their setup :) I don't actually own any analogue gear, I just pretend I'm using it with my plugins  Ha! If you have vocal cords, you have analogue gear. What's more FOSS than making the air vibrate? It's easy to forget that ...
