Re: Ubuntu 12.04 crackling?!
I tried both and nothing helped. Now I notice that when the track is record enabled, even when I hover the mouse somewhere, or move it around Ardour's interface it crackles. Also, when I start QjackCtl and just hover the mouse to the launch bar without actually starting an app I get Xruns. Maybe it'...

Ubuntu 12.04 crackling?!
Has anyone noticed that while recording, especially with Ardour and some other app like Guitarix and Rakarrack? I didn't have things like that in Ubuntu 11.10. Also when some audio app is running like Guitarix and Ardour and I call the dash I get all kinds of weird noises and cracklings. When I set ...

Re: Studio 13.37 YouTube Video
i have not used osX for audio production, but compared to various windows, and mainstream linux versions, Puppy Studio, in its several incarnations is the fastest I have used, and is measured in meg rather than gig, for those finding that bloat, or even coordinated but massive compilations, allow r...

Re: Guitarix release 0.24.2
I spent an hour today, playing around with Guitarix, and I must say I'm pretty much impressed. With few tweaks this app sounds almost like an amp. Thank you very much for sharing it

Re: Guitarix release 0.24.2
It worked for me. Although it's not the 0.24.2 version, but 0.23.2.1. Anyway, thanks, it works great. And thanks for your links, both to you and AutoStatic.

Re: Guitarix release 0.24.2
Thanks, Brummer! But it still led me from one dependency to the other. So, I thought to try another route, and tried the debian package way, and also the thing with dependencies there again, and also warnings that if install this or that it will break some already installed thing in the system. I do...

Re: Guitarix release 0.24.2
version 0.24.2 is out, debian users will find deb packets in the experimental branch (because of the freeze for the wheezy release). additional there is now a (binary)packet for MAC-OSX available in our file repository. greats I need some help again. I moved from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04 and trying to...

Creating an install CD/DVD from a current install
So, how do you do this? I'm planning to use Ubuntu 12.04 or 12.10 as a platform to build a custom "audio distro", where I would install, say, Ardour, Hydrogen, Guitarix etc. and then from all that create a DVD so if something goes wrong in the future, I would simply do a clean install. Als...

Re: Integrating a note editor inside a recorder/sequencer
You have installed PyQt4 for Python2, but not for Python3. Do that and it will run. Also install libsmf and pysmf by invoking the build script with Py3. Nils Well, I've install Python3 via the Synaptic before installing PyQt4.....Or there's something else to be done. How do I install PyQt4 for Pyth...

Re: Integrating a note editor inside a recorder/sequencer
Everything except midi keyboard input is slow. You are then interested in the most flexible one-tool solution that does not require the midi instrument, and that is the cursor and the number keys, which allow to enter, choose and edit. Using letter keys as note names is really stupid. You block mos...

Re: Integrating a note editor inside a recorder/sequencer
My only gripe with it is that it uses a cursor-based input method, which the dev says is eventually faster than MuseScore's pitch spell, but I don't find it immediately faster, and I'd rather stick with something tried and tested than reinvent the wheel. With pitch spell, if you can type, you can u...

Re: Integrating a note editor inside a recorder/sequencer
I believe that for such thing to exist we first need a good team of developers and musicians working together. Considering how open-source projects easily get into flamewars, this first step is very difficult. Well, I can partially understand that, since after all, I guess software developers are h...
