Re: Building Ardour from source....STUCK!!!
Yeah, you re right. I got this part wrong: Exec=/usr/local/bin/ardour3 Instead I set it to /usr/local/lib/ardour3. But watch this now: http://i41.tinypic.com/4gtbox.jpg And now they're both working. I bet if I delete the .desktop file and than create another, there will be three of them. That's stra...

Re: Building Ardour from source....STUCK!!!
Yeah, that added a shortcut to the dash, but that shortcut doesn't do anything, I guess because 'terminal' is set to false. I guess I'll have to open it from the terminal. And also, that didn't solve the problem with the Ardour icon on the unity launcher. How do I set it to the default Ardour logo a...

Re: Building Ardour from source....STUCK!!!
Really, can someone help me about this? I followed these instructions: http://www.howopensource.com/2012/10/create-application-launcher-add-icon-to-unity-ubuntu-12-10/ But, not only it didn't work, it also replaced the Ardour icon that appears on the launcher. I went in /usr/share/applications and d...

Re: Building Ardour from source....STUCK!!!
Yeah, Pablo, the dev instalation solved it. Thanks a lot. Thanks FalkTX, but I've already built it and installed it, thanks for the help guys. :) It works great, now if only I knew how to add the app to the dash or make a shortcut somehow, it's a little bit annoying to run it from the terminal, espe...

Re: Building Ardour from source....STUCK!!!
Well, I've finished. The configuring and install went successful, but now I can't run Ardour, neither from the dash nor from the terminal.

Re: Forthcoming Audio-Distro Side-by-Side Comparison
ubuntu still boots in under 20 seconds. Well, unless you need to reboot your pc during a gig, as others have point out, boot time is not much of a selling point to a musician. (And that's a good thing for ubuntu since it tends to be a slow distro, including in terms of boot time. And this will only...

Update on the crackling thing: It isn't there with Patchage or Gladish, only with QJaclCtl so I uninstalled it . If anyone is having problems like me, try that.

Linux Sampler - multiple in-out question
Well, I like the LinuxSampler and the sounds I can get out of it, but I don't know how to use multiple instruments with their separate inputs and outputs so that I can route them into their respective tracks in Ardour and use them all at once. Can somebody explain that to me in a simple way? EDIT: N...

configuring for 48000Hz, period = 64 frames (1.3 ms), buffer = 2 periods You running jack real hard for the use with ardour. First try higher frame rates, usually 256 or 512 are good enough for play guitar live. Also have you try the realTimeConfigQuickScan http://wiki.linuxmusicians.com/doku.php?i...

Re: Ubuntu 12.04 crackling?!
I use nvidia card and driver. From the available drivers the version 173 works best, so I have that running. I've just tried the other ones again but they're unusable for me, so I got back to 173. I tried XFCE4 as Brummer suggested and there I don't have Xruns at all, so it's the Unity, and the 3D i...
