Re: Audacity problems start in debian 9 stretch
OK, your screenshot shows that audacity is installed. Good. Now, to get rid of the "already open problem", you can either reboot, or try killall -9 audacity (Of course, if you know how to use it, htop, as suggested by sysrqer, also works. You can see if it is running and kill it.) Let us ...

Re: JACK: Cannot use real-time scheduling
Thank you very much for the info. This problem is a bit sporadic, and haven't happened in a while, but I will give it a try after next time.
Thanks!!

Re: Mixbus 4 for $29.95 til Nov. 5th
Disclaimer: I did not give Mixbus a fair try. (Take what I say with a huge grain of salt.) But... I like Ardour (as a DAW) much better. The use of buses seemed limited to me. You cannot route the pre-created mixbuses however you'd like. Now, I suppose you buy if for the "sound", i.e., the ...

Re: Audacity problems start in debian 9 stretch
I am not sure I can help, but... Can you try to start audacity as a different user? (Create a test one, if necessary, log in and try it.) If that doesn't work, you can try to remove it and reinstall it (as root): apt purge audacity apt install audacity Then move .audacity-data: mv ~/.audacity-data ....

Re: is it ok to buy a scarlet second gen 2i2 or 2i4?
What do you mean? Do they work well in Linux? Then, yes. if yes, do i need to pay extra for 2i4 or would a 2i2 be enough for basic music production? It depends on your needs. Do you need to record more than two instruments (or one stereo source) at once? Do you need MIDI? Do you need more than 2 out...

Re: JACK: Cannot use real-time scheduling
In fact, you probably need to make a new "permissions.rules" file, as mentioned on the configuration webpage: A simple chgrp might not be persistent across reboots - to make the change last, create a new 40-timer-permissions.rules file in /etc/udev/rules.d/ with the following lines: KERNE...

Re: JACK: Cannot use real-time scheduling
Firstly, thanks for the reply! Does the problem only exist when using Ardour? Ardour does not run at all. Muse3 (compiled myself) runs, but I can see some performance issues. I haven't tried any other DAW, but sound works otherwise. Also, I thought that realtime kernels had an "RT" in the ...

JACK: Cannot use real-time scheduling
Every once in a while I cannot start Ardour. It seems that the problem is real-time scheduling. I have it configured as suggested in https://wiki.linuxaudio.org/wiki/system_configuration and it usually works fine. To fix when the problem happens, I usually have to reboot the computer, but then all w...

Mr. E's (a Virtual Music Projects collaboartion)
Here is a production that started in the "Virtual Music Projects" subforum, more precisely, here: https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=17258 After I've listened to what Michael Willis had posted there, I thought I could try something with it. (It took a while to finish, sinc...
