Re: Advice on buying an USB audio interface

So, in your opinion the Alesis IO2 is worthless even at such low price. No, no, on the contrary, I'm quite happy with it: it's small and USB-powered, I keep it on my small desk and it's always ready to go. But it IS a cheap device, don't expect too much from it. It may or may not be enough for you....

Re: Advice on buying an USB audio interface

You have very conflicting requirements: - "as cheap as possible" vs. "low noise floor", "good SNR", "nice and neutral preamps" For what is worth, I have an Alesis iO2 Express, a Lexicon Omega and a PreSonus AudioBox 1818VSL. The Alesis is cheap and small and USB-powered, but it's quite noisy and the...

Re: Working on the design

Hi, I'll throw in some critics. All of which are to be taken as constructive, of course. And thanks for the all the awesome work. I find the highlights on the knobs nice but confusing I'd like a more visible marker on the knobs I'd like some markers around the knobs, like five or eleven reference li...

Re: Editable piano roll for easier microtonal midi?

ZynAddSubFX can use microtonal scales.
You can define them in the "Scales" (!) window, or import them from .scl or .kbm files.

Re: Why Guitarix factory presets so awful and loud??

I'm definitely with wolftune on this. The first time I tried Guitarix I feared I blasted my speakers and I thought the software was crap, then I learned to tweak it and appreciate it. And, by the way, giving a low analog gain to a signal and then apply ridiculous amounts of DIGITAL gain is just bad ...

Re: Ardour, How to normalize a stereo track separately?

Why would you need to join them to stereo again? Just work the mix with the two channels as mono track, or make a bus.
(Also, why would you need to normalize them?)

Re: DIY stereo microphone

Worst stereo recording arrangement I've ever seen. Please, don't copy it and learn how to do it properly instead. You don't need anything special except a pair of identical (matched, ideally) mics (well, except for M/S). The net is full of good (and bad, apparently) tutorials. Look for artic...

Greetings from Milan. :)

P.S.
Be aware that in many languages, English being one of them, "ciao" is used only when leaving (like "goodbye"), but not when meeting ;)

Re: skype cuts suport for alsa....and now?

I don't understand what's all this fuss around Pulseaudio. Do you guys really need to run Skype with Jack? Really? I mean, Jack is used for pro-audio work, do you really do pro-audio work while Skype is running?? When I do audio work I run Jack. When I use Skype I run Pulseaudio. I never need them t...

Re: MPlayer loses JACK connections on every track change

If you use qjackctl, you can configure the patchbay to keep (recreate) the connections. You can snapshot the current ones and see how it looks like; it usually does the right thing, that is it inserts wildcards where appropriate (for example, "vlc_[0-9]+"), this way you don't need to tell mplayer to...

Re: PreSounus AudioBox 1818VSL Working in Linux

Hello, I recently purchased an AudioBox 22VSL and I cannot get Ardour to record from the AudioBox instead of my laptop's internal microphone. Can someone that has gotten this interface to work offer any suggestions? I do see the interface in Jack but I am not sure if I have the settings correct. If...

ssj71, if you read the first post, you find How do I completely clone a track without having to first insert a new track, then copy the audio or MIDI, then copy the plugins, then correct the routing [...] ? It's exactly what you are suggesting… Anyway, 1. No, there's no "clone track" available that ...
