Re: jack autostart fail after last cadence update

As others are reporting other desktops are also showing the same behavior. Mint 13(12.04) Cinnamon for me also has not autostarted JACK in weeks.

Re: Loss of sound in Mint/KXStudio Install from dis/re-conne

Do you have another audio interface you can test? Was this the onboard audio chipset to begin with? Though if your soundcard were burned out, JACK likely wouldn't connect.

Re: Linux music as a major player...

That's the saddest, but not unexpected, update for Ardour I've ever seen. Just creating JACK is a big deal, let alone Ardour. For me, if it just got a few more stability fixes I'd be perfectly happy with it "as is" for a very long time. It's just like my 10 year old Delta 1010. If it ain't...

Re: Using your Android device to control Ardour

There's not much too it. I just enabled OSC in interfaces in Ardour options. Make sure everything is on the same network. Pop in your PC's IP address into Ardroid, and it should "just work". I'm sure there's a port that needs to be unblocked on your particular router, or some other minor d...

Re: No sound from jack

No, it seems like it's a specific issue with the device you're using. If it works, be grateful. A good chunk of sophisticated audio interfaces just don't work on linux. All the audio interfaces I own are 5-12 years old and are long supported.

Re: No sound from jack

The number (JuceJack1 JuceJack2) MAY(I'm just making a guess here) have to do with the version of JACK you are using. KXStudio uses 2 by default. But it sounds like you have everything in place. Like falk said, the 2 outputs you see from alsabridge is (almost)everything on your computer that makes n...

Re: No sound from jack

You shouldn't be using both sound card at the same time. It's bad for business. If you can, pick one or the other. Try KXStudio 14.04 and see if it improves your situation.

Re: No sound from jack

That first article is a bit older, and may not be useful anymore, but the chatter on the ardour forum seems relevant. It depends on which KXStudio Live DVD you used for what kernel you have, and some people in the ardour forum were saying it was actually added in 3.9 and I know kxstudio 12.04 is onl...

Re: No sound from jack

Sounds like soundcard specific issues. Have a look at http://sergey.vlasov.me/2012/09/using-focusrite-scarlett-18i6-in-linux.html and https://community.ardour.org/node/5751 Looks like there's been some work done on a specific mixer for this device. It sounds to me like the device is integrated into ...

Re: No sound from jack

Welcome to linux audio. This could either be a nightmare or a blessing for you as far as pro audio. Going to need a bit more info about your system to really diagnose your problem. When you say you want to use the build in mic for recording, am I asuming you're using the built in soundcard on your y...

Re: Reinstalling kx studio ububtu 12.04 or 14.04?

I wasn't comparing the 2 processors. I only mentioned them because I have NO issues with my system, be it 12.04 or 14.04 with the i7. For that matter, the only reason I own this is because I picked up this system on clearance for $900 at best buy 4 years ago. an i7 with 9 gigs of RAM for under $1k i...

Something absolutely ridiculous

I'm in the early stages of writing this down tempo break beat track that I fully intend to write some real vocals too. I've never used the option in Ardours region list to search Freesound. So I searched vocals. Picked a couple of random things, time-stretched em, and matched em up into this. It's s...

Re: Got TouchDAW working with Ardour

To update this tutorial, using multicast for XY controller and onscreen MIDI is definitely easier than using the extra DSMI. Just change your launch command to: qmidinet --num-ports=4 Use the 3 port as the MIDI out of the XY/Keys, and port 4 for input back to the app(though not sure what MIDI info y...

Re: Reinstalling kx studio ububtu 12.04 or 14.04?

My mint 17 is cinnamon, always cinnamon. I love the new quarter screen docking of windows in cinnamon 2.2. The Mint team always seems to do a better job with ubuntu than Cannonical. I have all Intel and Nvidia, and you have all AMD stuff. Used to be a big fan of AMD, but Intel seems to be the better...

Re: Is KXStudio the one I want to use for Windows Apps?

If you really are tied to your VST plugins, you may want to stick with windows. I've found a replacement for everything in my old Pro Tools setup for everything except some of the waves x-noise type plugins. Some things work in the chain, and I myself use Reason 5.0 quite heavily via wineasio and ar...
