Thanks for the link. I tried installing pulseaudio and setting up jack over pulseaudio using the directions here:

with the result that I now have sound from Ardour but nothing else.

With those settings I've acheived partial success. I set recordmydesktop to work with Jack, and I can now capture my screen, and get sound onto the recording by talking into a mic. What i want to do in this case is play some music during the catpture, and a lot of sound stuff doesn't work when Jack ...

Okay, got Jack working with sound going into Ardour and coming out as well. The only setting I changed was to make the input hw:0.

Turns out I had more trouble than I realized; I can't answer your question because I'm on a fresh install here and right now Jack isn't working at all and I can't remember how I set it up last time! It's been awhile. I'll see if I can sort it out and meanwhile if anyone can give me some hints about ...

Hi, I'm using an maudio Delta44 soundcard, and it works just fine both for listening and for recording with Ardour. But I'm having trouble getting sound into recordmydesktop; it says it doesn't recognize my soundcard. Can anyone advise?
