Re: MIDI with qtractor and qsampler
Hi TheSafePlaces, sorry for not checking in here for so long. I've definitely had the LV2 LS plugins working fine on qtractor with panning and everything. I use the [fixed by OOM ]SFZ files from SSO too. But I do recall getting a ton of those channel setup errors when I first tried to set everything...

Re: Poll - What recorder and/or sequencer do you primarily u
Mere trifles. Cadence pwns because if it doesn't find your specificed interface, it'll fallback to something else - like your laptop onboard card. And when you connect your interface back, it's already selected in Cadence, so no need to change config when you're switching between intefaces. In othe...

Re: Poll - What recorder and/or sequencer do you primarily u
Seeing as you're a big fan of Ableton you may end up switching to Bitwig when that gets released as it seems to have more than just a number of developers in common with that trending DAW. But bitwig will cost money and musicians don't have money, everyone knows that. :P I'm not a huge fan or anyth...

Re: Poll - What recorder and/or sequencer do you primarily u
Hmm, having always-on-JACK is a nice idea but realistically not possible for me, since I use an external interface for I/O that isn't always connected to my laptop. KXStudio has attracted my attention (although even falktx seems to suggest Gladish??) and the applications look amazing (good GUI desig...

Re: Session Management
OK, I'll give it a go... should beat bash scripts... how does it cope with hardware? Will it automatically connect stuff after I switch it on if that connection is saved in a session?

Re: Session Management
This is one of the reasons I love ladish. When you make connections and some app quits, ladish remembers that connection and auto-restores it when such app appears again. :D Ladish was really promising but when I last used it hardly any apps were above compliance level 1, how is ladish support nowa...

What did you select? Qtractor What work do you do? Recording live instruments, sampling, MIDI orchestrations You mainly deal with - audio, MIDI, or both? Both What else have you tried earlier before settling on your current choices? LMMS, Ardour, Ableton Live, Reaper, Non-Sequencer, Non-DAW Is ther...

Re: MIDI with qtractor and qsampler
MIDI panning only applies to hosted plugins that generate sound within Qtractor, afaik. Which means you're in luck because LinuxSampler runs very well as an LV2 plugin. So you'd just throw a linuxsampler lv2 plugin on each MIDI track that you want to use sampled instruments with and then run Qsample...

Re: Session Management
Ok, all this choice is.. overwhelming. :D The shell script might be the way to go but I wonder if there's some way of automating generation of such a shell script? Because of course during the session I might add new apps and connections as I need them and I won't necessarily know the names of all t...

Re: LinuxSampler problem
The red items are not given in the linuxsampler link. I found them by accident on the Qtractor page. Oh, and yeah, I've installed Qtractor from the svn too, so I guess I'm not a noob anymore :D But then again, this is how Qtractor looks from the website http://qtractor.sourceforge.net/image/qtracto...

Re: Qtractor + External Sequencer = Headache
Actually, last night I got it working exactly the way I wanted simply by having both tracks set to Monitor (by clicking in the mixer strip) and making sure neither was selected in the track view. Then, each track responded only to the channel specified in Track Properties. Qtractor was not in record...

Re: Session Management
There's really nothing wrong with Jack, and it's impossible to do that sort of audio routing with alsa.
