Re: Cannot compile Yoshimi
This is a late post but better late then never....After pulling my hair out for while I finally figured out the problem of the odd crashes that I was having. It was the firewire cable itself. I was having intermittent problems because I had a faulty firewire cable that when sitting a certain way on ...

Re: Cannot compile Yoshimi
What are your JACK settings? And maybe increase your timeout setting in JACK a bit. Default is 500, try setting it to 1000 or 2000. The Timeout setting was indeed set to 500. I ramped it up to 2000 and that seems to have taken care of the problem. Thanks Autostatic...PS. Good luck to your football ...

Re: Cannot compile Yoshimi
Ok guys after trying in vein to compile yoshimi from source, I gave up. I installed all the fluid packages and still couldn't get it to go. I eventually got the package installed from the link that autostatic posted and it seems to work but after changing back and forth between a couple different sy...

Re: Cannot compile Yoshimi
I noticed you mentioned above about installing FLUID. Are you referring to fluid-soundfont-gm or some other package?

Re: Ubuntustudio vs 64studio?
That is very interesting Autostatic...I guess when you buy the latest tech. your bound to run into some problems. It would be nice if Intel did a better job of Quality Assurance!

Re: Ubuntustudio vs 64studio?
Whoops..spoke a little to soon..Just one minor problem. I can' seem to get this fa-101 to run off bus power. Anyone have any idea's why that might be? Because your notebook probably has a 4-pins Firewire input. So nu bus-power, therefore you need a 6-pin connection. Autostatic...is there anything y...

Re: Ubuntustudio vs 64studio?
I finally got the fa-101 to work. Its working well and I am pleased. I'm not sure exactly what I did but after a reboot things worked. It's to bad about the usb problem but I can still take the ua-101 back so not big deal(although they were going to give it to me cheap) Thanks to all that helped me ...

Re: Ubuntustudio vs 64studio?
2.6.31-10-rt is the realtime kernel with the old Firewire stack enabled. And if your permissions are set right you should be good to go. Did you try with the 'firewire' driver? Actually I do think I may have a problem with permissions. It shows in the Ubuntu documentation that the output from ls -a...

Re: Ubuntustudio vs 64studio?
Hello bpk, 1. Install the realtime kernel 2.6.31-10, so NOT the lowlatency and/or preempt kernel. The 2.6.31-10 realtime kernel still has the old Firewire stack and that's the one you need. 2. Use the 'firewire' driver, not the 'freebob' driver. 'firewire' = FFADO and the successor to 'freebob'. 3....

Re: Ubuntustudio vs 64studio?
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get my firewire stack running properly under Ubuntu Studio 10.04rt. I have read some other information out there but I really am not sure where to begin. After all my problems with ua-101 and usb I was Hoping that I might be able to get this fa-101 runni...
