Re: In what way modular approach is limiting
Hey man! Thanks for the detailed answer. To comment shortly, I am speaking to the LMMS devs and at least one of them has read this post. I think I am also one of the most active feedback givers in the latest months. I think LMMS is going the right way and basically they all agree with this vision, a...

Re: Prehear
Can you please be more detailed? I am not sure I understand how to create this kind of setup.

Re: A good audio editor?
Have not reported this. Audacity crashes (more accurately to say, it freezes) when I start zooming in and out, so it seems. I have tried out ReZound and am impressed with it greatly. It is similar to GoldWave, but there are also very good functions which GoldWave does not have. Also, the fact that i...

Re: In what way modular approach is limiting
I've also tried LMMS a little, but it's a little unstable. Also, I don't like the sound produced by it. For example, It seems as if Zynaddsubfx sounds better as an external app than as a plugin in LMMS. But maybe I'm only imagining this... LMMS 0.4.6 is a stable release - in fact, it hasn't crashed...

A good audio editor?
During Windows days I was an avid user of GoldWave and to this day consider it to be the best audio editor around, both in terms of functionality and usability. It is simply a very good piece of software. But it is proprietary (uh oh) and it is for Windows. I tried Audacity. I have to be honest - I ...

Re: In what way modular approach is limiting
But trying to make electronic music in Ardour is similar to trying to make electronic music in ProTools(TM). Unfortunately, not. Pro Tools has midi. Ardour does not. When Ardour will have midi, it will in many ways become very close to becoming an IME. However, the fact that synths are not "in...

In what way modular approach is limiting
Being relatively new to Linux Audio, but not new to music, I perhaps might sound like one of those critics who start to speak about things they do not quite know about. However, I still would like to take the liberty to discuss the limitations of modular approach, believing that my input can be usef...

Re: Is there a JACK music player?
My general guide for Ubuntu Karmic users would be this:
1. Open your web browser.
2. Download Ubuntu Jaunty.
3. Uninstall Karmic.
4. Install Ubuntu Jaunty.
As for Audacious, it seems to work fine for me. I have used it to stream radios and record those streams - I mean, wow, this is really great!

Is there a JACK music player?
I heard that VLC or some other player can have some plugins but it sounds a bit complex. I remember installing a plugin for VLC that makes it "jackified" but it did not work.
Is there any player that is JACK compatible?

Re: JACK suddenly started giving XRUNS
Turning wireless was the first thing I did but it did not help.
As for limits.conf - I actually installed Ubuntu Studio Controls and use that...
(during the show used AV Linux - nice distro, very low latency, not a single xrun during the whole concert).

JACK suddenly started giving XRUNS
Hey guys! I've been using my Ubuntu fine, however today, rehearsing before the show, I have found that my Ubuntu OS seemed to have gone slower. Before JACK never gave me XRUNs, but now it is giving them all the time, even as I switch between windows of apps. I do not use an rt-kernel, since this is ...
