Re: A fresh start for LMMS
Hey Paul! Have mailed you my feedback quite some time ago, hope it was useful. In general I would also advice you to try out FL Studio. I have used it for many years and in terms of user experience and usability it is very much polished. A lot of the disappointing things in LMMS are really usability...

Re: Hydrogen 0.9.5-beta1 released
Hi! If you want LADI level1 support you need the latest version from our svn. Look here for instructions: http://trac.assembla.com/hydrogen/wiki/development%3Aqt4compile Thanks, Sebastian Tried creating a deb, it compiled for a long time and then said this, presumably at the final stages: dpkg-shli...

Re: Are you visiting LAC 2010?
I plan to submit an article on two precisely musician-oriented. I would like to talk to beginner musicians and tell them a bit about Linux and music on Linux and also share some experience on doing live performances with Linux.

Re: Are you visiting LAC 2010?
I would love to meet Rui. As for using Linux for actual music production, I'm proud to be one of those who does something with Linux, not just talks about it. In fact, I have no Windows machines anymore, not even at work, and I'v never owned a Mac (nor do I plan to). So if next year I'll be able to ...

Re: Do you listen to your own music?
I do listen to my music. Actually, I started writing ambient because I couldn't find much myself or I found tunes which I did not like entirely. A lot of ambient music composing is indeed like composing, taking different bits and pieces and working with them and what happens is that the composer him...

1. Steve Roach
2. Young American Primitive
3. Saafi Brothers
4. Lvxus
5. stuff my friends and people on the Internet made.
In fact, I should put #5 at #1, since most of it is what I listen to.
Also, I listen to mod music.
But in general, I listen very little music.

Re: LUCID?
Yeah. They said that Network Manager is not so good with an rt kernel, so they used another popular network manager. I forgot what its name is. I have seen it on several distros and for me it works so slowly, it hangs my system each time it searches for wireless. I had lots of difficulties using AV ...

Re: LUCID?
There is one important computer rule which I found: Do not upgrade unless you have a specific practical reason to do so. If your system works well, if you are getting what you want, just stay put. If you are curious, get a Virtual Box and try it out there. But do not spoil your life by updating to a...

jack buffer setting (frames) is 128. If I make it higher, then midi will have a delay.

Re: going modular... but the system cannot manage it!
ps: note though that the graphics are slow. the sound is great, I am using rt kernel and there are no xruns. if I activate phasex window, it draws slowsly. hydrogen is also slower than usual graphical response.

going modular... but the system cannot manage it!
I am now using latest hydrogen (or at least, one of the latest versions) with the piano roll. it is all well and good and I am enjoying the software. However, here is a problem. Through hydrogen I am controlling external synths. I've loaded three phasex already and my system is slow as a turtle. And...
