Re: Suggestion for a good set of sounds for beginners

Software. I appreciate the answers so far. But you can be more specific! Imagine this scenario: You have a workshop or a class, a few hours only. You provide them with ready to use Linux Audio computers and you can teach them about how to set a note in Ardour or how to load a plugin in Carla. But yo...

Suggestion for a good set of sounds for beginners

What would be your suggestion for sounds for a beginner? The scenario is to learn a sequencer by making music, so it would be best to get a good matching collections of sounds and instruments?

I'm thinking synthesizer sound for melody, chords and bass as well as drums.

Re: Donations welcome!

Don't worry, we'll not 'sell out' and put obnoxious banners anywhere or sharing personal information, but of course if any of them agree to sponsor we'll find a reasonable way to give them credit. Even if there are banners, we are a tech community: I imagine most if not all use adblockers anyway. M...

Re: AVLinux 2018 and UEFI

I configured my version of AV Linux with some installs and deinstalls and then installed it to an USB stick. Not a live system but a real install, so all my data and configuration is properly saved. This works fine for my own computers, however I need it to run on laptops that don't have any legacy...

Re: AVLinux 2018 and UEFI

UEFI exclusive would be good enough for me. It is always the same (Windows) Laptop that I need to run it on.

Re: AV Linux 2018.4.12 Released!

Thank you for the work and the release!

After all these years I gave AVLinux a try and I'm currently installing and configuring my own system and will install it on around 15 laptops used in my school and classes for audio production.

Let's see how this goes if we get actual new samples. There are only so many times you can recycle the same stuff over years.

Re: Please identify this classical piece

That is a Menuett in G Major from J.S. Bachs notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach (a book which J.S. Bach collected pieces for her and let guests write in, too) most likely written by Christian Petzold. It is in BWV Addendum 114 (Bach Werkeverzeichnis Anhang 114) Direct Link: http://ks.petruccimusiclibr...

Video Conference with JACK audio and no artificial quality restrictions?

I am in search of a software that I can use to do video chats, maybe even video conferences. It should support JACK (well running, please. no hacky stuff) . Additionally it would be nice if the participants could decide themselves what kind of resolution, data rate etc. they use. In opposite to Skyp...

Signalizer scopes, spectrograph and more

So this exists: http://www.jthorborg.com/index.html?ipage=signalizer https://bitbucket.org/Mayae/signalizer/overview The videos look nice. It is GPL3, but the build process is tedious. You have to have code blocks and then start a python script that even failed for me. My motivation is not big enoug...

Re: Any recent DAW comparisons?

That comparison matrix is great.
I only wish it wasn't on some google spreadsheet, destined to be lost in time or on the whim of google.

Is it possible to make that on the linux audio wiki? Is the loss in convenience too heavy?

Re: 44.1 kHz is slowly reaching its end

Good to know.
But also good to keep in mind that this is neither a technical problem for anyone nor a problem of convenience.
