Well, (unless there's bugs) this will be fine functionally, but because both are on the same IRQ you can't give one priority over the other...studio32 wrote:is this an IRQ conflict??Code: Select all

seq24 That just emits midi signals doesn't it? I (for now) plan to do that with with a manual controller sooperlooper/freewheeling At first glance it looks like those loop 'just-recorded' sounds, rather than allowing you to carefully construct and `instrument' to use. linuxsampler? I should definit...

Re: midi setup on ubuntu
How do I setup midi in Ubuntu? I've a maudio audiophile 24/96 pci so I don t need timidity, right? Uh, not sure - timidity is used to turn a MIDI signal to a waveform signal - the notes come from the MIDI signal, the sounds (soundfonts) from timidity. A quick glance at http://www.m-audio.com/produc...

Re: pulseaudio
I removed it (apt-get remove pulseaudio), doesn't seem to cause too much problems.studio32 wrote:Ubuntu Hardy.... I think I want to remove it... but does it harm my system?
(actually, it works around some)

Re: Sampling
I found 'specimen' for playing/looping sounds at various pitches. Still have to fiddle with it more. Right now I'm using Audacity for cutting up recordings - not sure if that's the most convenient tool for the job. Haven't looked into filtering out stuff (like drums or vocals) yet, pointers apprecia...

I'm in band doing all kinds of covers, and we've been playing with the thought of including some `dance'-like songs (like daft punk or something). Now of course it's tricky to play this kind of stuff `live' - especially getting the 'sound' right and keeping it `interesting'. The latter we might do b...

Re: Ubuntu (studio) up to date?
jackd 0.109.2 , ardour 2.5 If those versions are too old for you, of course you can install the latest version manually, or get an unofficial package from getdeb . Personally I usually don't bother, and just upgrade when a new version of Ubuntu comes out (a matter of running an upgrade tool, waitin...

wind controller / sineshaper/zynaddsubfx
I recently became the proud owner of a wind controller (`midi sax'), and I'm exploring my options for getting the most out of it. A wind controller is a MIDI instrument that, apart from the normal note-on messages, also emits a stream of measurements of my current breath pressure and lip tension. To...

Re: Ubuntu 8.10: rt kernel improved?
New observations: - the problem is much more pronounced on my wind controller than on my midi keyboard. Both are attached though USB, but the wind controller emits much more information. - the -generic kernel actually performs much better! - the -generic kernel uses IO-APIC interrupts, the realtime ...
