Re: Ardour 2..8.5 released
@funkmuscle so so, a bit bluesy ? :D you know, being laughed at by a bunch of ppl does not mean they're right ;) anyway, if you have some comments about the dev's strategy, he's online on IRC and available for a direct dialog. Before you whine here and there, I think it wiser if you chatted with him...

Re: Jack, alsa, m-audio 2496 and weird number of channels
Hola Pablo, the snd_ice1712 kernel module has options and you can specify the model. By default, it would assume the delta1010 (just a guess). Don't know the exact syntax for this module option, though.

Re: RT patch 2.6.31.12-rt20
@studio32: I am not really saying anything since I use ext3 for the system partition and XFS for my data disks (XFS is fast at large data file deletion but it sucks a bit at other things). ALl I can tell is that ext3 is very mature, while ext4 is still young. Recent kernel updates did impact its per...

Re: RT patch 2.6.31.12-rt20
@AutoStatic: an interesting read : http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=linux_2632_fs&num=1 In the end of the article, they mention that ext4 performance will be even more impacted in 2.6.33 ... Are you using a pure data partition formatted with ext4 ? or is it just the system ...

Re: RT patch 2.6.31.12-rt20
you should probably give 2.6.32 a try, even without RT patch.
I've been using it for a while and it performs really great. The only thing "special" I need is PAE (for using between 4GB and 64GB RAM in 32bit arch).

Re: room EQ Impulse Convolver?
remember that jconvolver is an external app, an independent jack client. As such, even an LV2 plugin would only be an insertion point. Like, if you wanted to have a convolver plugin in an ardour track, this plugin would not really run within the ardour audio thread since it would only be an insertio...

Re: jack plugin for the flash player
Hi Lars, Tough luck with the chickenpox! :( But glad you got it working. The nVidia installer has many options for installation. So say you installed it for a non RT kernel, and you then installed an RT kernel with its headers. You will need to compile the nvidia kernel module only. Two ways: - eith...

Re: Do you listen to your own music?
yes I do, I really enjoy it, my wife too. That's good enough :D It is not finished but quite enjoyable nonetheless. Since I am still in the composition / editing phase, I don't listen to others' music, or very little (a bit of classical or folk). Since my mind is almost constantly filled with music,...

A more proper way to deal with pulseaudio:

Sisnce I never use it, I have no real "expertise" in the matter. The info under the link I just gave seems more proper to me.

Combo Tap and Calf plugins: possible denormal issues
Guys, I spotted an issue with a combination of Calf and Tap plugins. If you have a Calf plugin inserted AFTER a Tap one, you may have a large DSP load when transport is idle. I checked that swapping the plugin insertion order fixed the DSP load. I only fiddled with the Calf LV2 5 Band parametric EQ ...
