Re: Introducing Javitra - Phonon Media Player with Jack support
in my desktops, I use plain ALSA when jack is not in use.
For KDE, if you install the phonon-backend-xine, the multimedia system settings (KDE only) will display jack as an alternative (System settings -> Multimedia -> Backend -> Xine then in Devices, jack will show up)

Re: Introducing Javitra - Phonon Media Player with Jack support
yeah, if memory serves well, the xine engine of the phonon backend can use jack ... but you'll have to figure this as I am not using KDE's sound themes at all (I like silent desktops
)

hello Capoeira, the 100MB LAN should be ok, but have only a switch between the PCs, no router or other complex piece of routing equipment the VM road: sure, I tried it :) it will kill your CPU ... but it works otherwise ;) ... if you don't mind bringing your system to its knees ... and jack is not f...

Re: How can I get Rosegarden to actually work?
The new version of RG will start jackd if it is not already running. For sound, you need to connect the track to a MIDI instrument or synth plugin. MIDI is not sound, as you probably now, but a "note information / event" that a software instrument will interpret to produce the correspondin...

Re: recording in Rosegarden
hi there,
it's your soundcard setting. Open up the mixer app for (alsamixer or some other h/w mixer app) and tune it so you do not get this h/w + PCM mixing.

I have to check this again. confirmed, Space Choir 1 - Fantasy bank. It suc...

I just did a fresh install of FC12 on my laptop and no dssi gui's would launch. I finally traced it down to my hostname appearing on IPV6 line for localhost in /etc/hosts. I think Joe User is going to get turned off from Linux having to deal with issues like that. wow, this truly sucks. Could you s...
