Re: XTinyTerror.lv2

Also to help that bass guitar cut through the mix, I put either one of those terrors on the bass guitar track. Especially if you're doing modern metal.

Yep it looks like the cpu was on it's last legs.
How old was it?
AthlonFX 3100 Quad core
Funny thing is that the i7 when I researched it, it said quad core but this is how Arch sees it:

Code: Select all

Intel i7-2600K (8) @ 3.800GHz
Ardour sees 8 processor and also Mixbus32C. Sure runs like it too.

Re: governor issues on Arch

It was my PC. While troubleshooting yesterday, it kept dropping the wifi then randomly shutting down. Scored a used i7 8 core. Thank God I use Arcolinux(Just 100% Arch with a quick graphic installer) and thank you to whoever pointed out to use Tuned.
Made setting up a lot faster.
Thanks again everyone

Re: governor issues on Arch

Tuned is a sweet program. Yes less cpu used but the slowdown, robotic sounds, pops and crackles didn't stop. look, no xruns either: cadence.png I have a USB mouse, usb wifi which is usually off when mixing/recording and 2 usb drives attached for storage. To bring on the issue, I'd test stuff and I'...

Re: governor issues on Arch

I've just had a look at this on my system (Intel). $ cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy*/scaling_available_governors conservative performance schedutil I do not have the 'cpupower.service' enabled (never have). In /etc/modules-load.d/modload.conf one of my entries is acpi_cpufreq which resu...

Also I have an AMD processor so should it be modprobe acpi-cpufreq
or
modprobe powernow-k8
It's better to use acpi-cpufreq for AMD FX.
I am beginning to think that this is a mixbus. I'm going to downgrade to an earlier version and see if that happens

Re: governor issues on Arch

Also I have an AMD processor so should it be modprobe acpi-cpufreq
or
modprobe powernow-k8 seeing that in the BIOS there is a powernow-k8 which is the Quiet & Cool. Just enabled it and now governor is on performance yet still the crackling and pop.

Re: governor issues on Arch

I'm also using Arch Linux and my system is working. The directory /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy*/scaling_available_governors exists on my system. My most recent use of pacman -Syu required manual intervention to complete the update, as described here : https://www.archlinux.org/ yep same h...

Re: Crackling without xruns.. worse with large buffers

Hey, look at my htop results. Could this be the reason I'm getting all that popping and crackling? It says Mixbus is using a lot of cpu. No xruns as the topic says. htop.png I don't know if that's a problem. The RT priority of this thread is low. Maybe there's another instance of Mixbus running whi...

Re: XDarkTerror.lv2

Is there a Black TinyTerror? The heavier sounding Orange amp? Here it is: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/brummer10/XDarkTerror.lv2/master/XDarkTerror.png Like with the TinyTerror, use it with a cabinet simulation or IR for best results, as it is the plain head simulation. It sound very harsh wit...
