Re: Is LUBUNTU a suitable option for audio-recording tasks?
I use LXDE and XFCE as my desktops when setting up an audio/MIDI recording system. They are both very light on resources, specially LXDE which feels to me a little lighter than XFCE. I believe Lubuntu should do just well for that purpose, although AutoStatic's advice about using a Minimal Installati...

Re: Muse2 fails to start
That LADSPA plugin seems to be giving a lot of headaches!
Well, glad you sorted it out. Thanks for the info, see you around.

Re: Muse2 fails to start
However, something unexpected happened...
After I updated Guitarix, Rosegarden did not start
I had to uninstall Guitarix 2 in order to be able to work in Rosegarden, which is my main MIDI recording program.
I'll give it a try again, and post back any error messages I get.

Re: Muse2 fails to start
Thanks for your reply. You were right. I was so focused on the last part of the terminal output that didn't pay attention to that part. Guitarix 2 was the source of the trouble. I was using version 0.22.0-1 for the AUR. Seems the LADSPA plugin of that version was giving problems with Muse 2. Updatin...

When trying to start Muse2, I get the following: QGtkStyle was unable to detect the current GTK+ theme. Denormal protection enabled. Re: Hi — newly switching from Mac
Hi wolftune! As you, I'm a music teacher (mainly guitar) using FLOSS software for a couple of years now. If you are just starting out, I would suggest that you try out AV Linux . It is based on Debian and comes pretty much pre-configured to do all sorts of multimedia work. The creator, GMaq, hangs a...

Re: Recommendation for MIDI Arpeggiator
QMidiArp +1, probably the best one around at the moment. There's also Arpage (https://sourceforge.net/projects/arpage/) and you might like to read Dave Phillips' articles on arpeggiators: http://www.linuxjournal.com/content/linux-arpeggiators-part-1 Best, Jeremy Hi AutoStatic! Thanks for the recomm...

Recommendation for MIDI Arpeggiator
I'm looking for MIDI arpeggiators that I can use for some sequences. What MIDI arpeggiation programs are out there for Linux? Which would you recommend?

Re: SOS I need a ROCK SOLID distro!
I feel your pain. I tried AV Linux 5.0.2 and liked it very much but in the short time that I've used the KXstudio tools (cadence, claudia etc) I've found them indispensable. I wished AV Linux would include them as I'm also looking for a new distro (64-Bit Oneiric is apparently no good if you want t...

Re: SOS I need a ROCK SOLID distro!
AVLinux 5.0, the latest Arch (64-bit), and Ubuntu 10.04 are in daily use here... I'm still using Ubuntu 10.04 with packages from KXStudio's repos as my main recording distro. With just a few tweaks runs great. However, I know it's becoming a little dated, and I'm considering moving to something mor...

Re: Muse 1.1 won't install
Seems that the user base for Muse is rather low. Just out of curiosity, what are you using for MIDI sequencing? Anything that does JACK midi, or supports VST (I have a vst2jack-midi-out plugin). So it's Non-sequencer, Qtractor, or Renoise. I've been cheking out Qtractor lately, and I like it. Non-s...
