Re: Early Lessons from a Linux Audio Newbie

Wow, that's a pretty comprehensive post that taught me a few things.I'm also using KXStudio and liking it a lot. I've got a Zoom H4 that I was using as my interface before I got the Delta 66. Now I plug the aux out into the Delta so I can use the H4 microphones as I don't have any other good microph...

Re: Hello from Denmark

Welcome Frank. Always interesting to hear how people came to Linux. Many musicians don't realise there is an alternative to Win/Apple. We don't have as many apps and plug-ins to choose from, but there's probably enough for what many people need.

Re: Hello LinuxMusicians

Welcome to the forum. Care to tell us what sort of gear you have? We always enjoy that. Oh, and we'd love to hear some of your music :) As you into programming have you considered helping out on any of the Linux projects? I must admit that although I'm a professional developer (C# and Oracle PL/SQL)...

I'm guessing Linux won't be getting control of the DSP to start with unless the software runs on Wine.

I just found out about Ardroid that is specifically for controlling Ardour from an Android device. It's been around for over a year

Re: Hydrogen Help Again

If the 2nd is to the right of the 1st then it's the same pattern. Each line represents a pattern. If you want another pattern then you press the + next to Clear to create a new line/pattern.

Re: KXStudio installation saga

Okay, I was being dumb. It was a combination of muted outputs and me removing a vital part of the audio wiring recently. Sound is working perfectly :) Now I can get on with some experimenting. I have a track to record that I need to start on. I look forward to making use of all the cool tools. Thank...

Re: KXStudio installation saga

Main issue is a distinct lack of any sound. The volume control complains that pulseaudio is not running. I assume it should be. Do NOT use the regular sound mixer in Unity or XFCE, it's useless for JACK operation. Use 'volti', 'qamix', 'kmix' or even 'alsamixer' (cli tool). I tried using alsamixer ...

Re: KXStudio installation saga

Ctrl-Alt-F1 wasn't working, so booted to recovery mode and got that to fix the packages. Then it booted properly. So now I have a shiny new desktop to play with. Installed nvidia to use my screens properly. Main issue is a distinct lack of any sound. The volume control complains that pulseaudio is n...

KXStudio installation saga

Firstly, I have installed KX before, back when it was a dedicated ISO based on Ubuntu 10.04 (I think), but I didn't actually use it much back then as it didn't seem quite ready for me. I've since been getting by with standard Kubuntu, but felt I was missing out on some of the cool new stuff. I want ...

Nothing much wrong with that. Sounds great. I like the organ sound. How much of the rest is 'real' instruments?

Re: Ardour Plugins for Vocals

As the guys say you should see various sets of plug-ins in your package manager. I've used some of the Calf plug-ins before. These should be available in Ardour once installed. http://calf.sourceforge.net/ I've not experimented too far on vocals so far. I think you should probably start with compres...

Re: Support of audio interfaces under Linux

Just spotted another couple of new USB 2.0 interfaces where the manufacturer claims they work on Linux due to class compliance: http://wiki.linuxmusicians.com/doku.php?id=prism_sound_lyra It looks like you need to controller app to really use them. Maybe it works on Wine or someone can write one. Ju...
