Re: Hydrogen Help Again

So I'm going to end up with a heap of patterns on different rows that I have to scroll up and down? That sucks. I don't think I've ever ended up with heaps of patterns. Usually a few patterns plus variations. You can also have multiple patterns running at the same time, etc. It seems pretty versati...

Re: I've recently made a decision...

It depends. I've been in a constant upgrade cycle because I always end up finding some new toy which comes with a whole new set of dependencies which inevitably causes me to upgrade. If you're happy with what you have working right now then go for it. If you like to experiment with new software all ...

Re: Sustaining a Cymbal in Hydrogen

If you can use something other than Hydrogen for this I think petri-foo will let you set up loop points within a sample.

Re: Session Management

oh wait, if you're referring to the 'jackdbus' process then yes, it never goes away and that's the point. jack can still be stopped, started, configured etc with it active (which is needed). Do not confuse jackd with jackdbus. jackd only runs when jack is active, but jackdbus should always be prese...

Re: Session Management

I think this is a different matter. If you're using jackdbus, you must use tools that can handle it. qjackctl can do dbus mode, but very poorly. when using (g)ladish in fedora, you should use its gui to stop/start jack as needed (is this case, "studios"). Well in this case they both (stop...

Re: Session Management

I've been starting my sessions with scripts, but this conversation got me interested in checking out some of the session managers. This is on Fedora 17 using the Planet CCRMA stuff. Yesterday I messed around a bit with ladish (Fedora doesn't provide a package so I built it from source). This require...

This was a great read but it's so old. I wish there was a followup on it.

Re: video cards

I can't speak for ATi, but if you are planning on running an RT kernel you can forget about official support from Nvidia. The proprietary driver won't compile without a patch and after that it only loads on certain cards. That being said, the Nouveau driver has come a long way and I've been happily ...

Re: Nvidia why they don't release 3D driver source

It is hypocritical to live that two-faced lifestyle, and criminal to steal commercial media releases. Perhaps having your sacred cow read my posts, has not served you well. I have never spoken against open source, or the generous and talented coders who share it on such a regular basis. Read, think...

Oh, please. He isn't trolling, he merely disagrees with the idea that a company is under an obligation to share their intellectual property. (And that's coming from somebody he disagrees with!) Merely disagreeing and being insulting are completely different things. His metaphors are childish at bes...

It's obvious where this discussion is going. Here's an example of me shamelessly copying and pasting someone else's hard work without proper attribution: ___________________________ /| /| | | ||__|| | Please don't | / O O\__ feed | / \ the trolls | / \ \ | / _ \ \ ---------------------- / |\____\ \ ...
