Re: Singer, songwriter cincy, oh

How do you like that Firewire Solo? I just bought one last week and was enjoying it until I made the mistake of booting into Windows (my laptop is dual boot) and installing the Windows driver. It updated the firmware and now, in Linux, there's no sound from the outputs unless I boot into Windows fir...

Re: LMMS 0.4.3 is out

It looks like Jack support is "sort of" there. It's enough to make it show up as a jack client, but not enough to waste any time testing. This is the version that actually works with Alsa on my system so I'm happy with that much.

Re: LMMS 0.4.3 is out

Well the new lmms shows up as a jack client, but doesn't seem to work when I route its outputs to any other apps. Still, it is working with Alsa on the my system with no apparent audio artifacts. This is a step in the right direction.

Re: LMMS 0.4.3 is out

I got around to building this and it looks like it might actually work with jack... I see "lmms" show up as a jack client and it's working without any pops, crackles or other artifacts. This could be a fun weekend...

Re: [Lilypond]improve TAB (guitarist, and bassplayers join!)

Would be nice if TAB could be done in a way that doesn't take your focus away from actually reading music. I depended on TAB too much the first few years that I was playing and now, 20 years later, I would do anything to be able to sight read real music.

Re: ANOTHER thread - but this one is a good one!

I'm still struggling with getting Jack to connect Hydrogen to Ardour (which I imagine is going to be quite easy once I find it) It is pretty easy. You can connect Hydrogen to Ardour from the mixer in Ardour. I'm at work so it's not in front of me, but you'll see an input button at the top of each t...

Re: LMMS: connect to other apps?

remove all LMMS files...Not too sure how the rpm installs but there is a file called install-list.txt or something.... That list all that is installed by LMMS. Remove them and reinstall... version 0.4.2... I had removed the rpm a long time ago. Removing an rpm leaves nothing behind other than whate...

Re: Hydrogen, Ardour, and plugins

Hi Telehack, I have an HP laptop with the HDA Intel sound. I used to have a lot of problems with xruns, particularly when the laptop was running on battery, but I did a lot of searching for recommended configurations and have managed to clear it up. I remember one of the last things I changed was th...

Could you tell if it only happens when the plugins are already present when you did the punch or does it happen if you do the punch and then add the plugins later?

Annoying Popping Sound in Ardour When Punch In/Out

I'm working on a recording in Ardour with some guitar tracks that I'm punching in, and once I get the part perfect and add some effects I'm noticing a real irritating clipping sound when the punch in starts and ends. It's just about impossible to get rid of the sound and trying to isolate has gotten...

Re: Promoting Free Notation Editors

To be honest, I'm starting to think FOSS advocacy is a waste of time. It might be a waste of time advocating FOSS for the sake of advocacy, but that doesn't necessarily guarantee that status quo will continue. My 8 year old daughter is happy using either Windows or Linux and could care less about t...

Re: filesystem

32bit kernel is what I use on all my boxes. I haven't experienced any issue. What could be the problem with 32bit kernels vs XFS ? Wow. It's been so long since I had to deal with this that I had to go back and try to find where this is documented and I find that I wasn't completely accurate. The is...

Re: filesystem

- not flexible, you cannot expand or shrink an existing XFS partition. Unless you delete it completely, you will not be able to reassign an XFS partition size, so be sure that's what you want from the beginning. This isn't completely accurate. I've worked with XFS for years and it has always been p...

Re: Ardour Question

I think I figured it out. Somehow I had put it on "splice edit". Putting it back on "slide edit" fixed it for me.
