Re: Need USB audio interface

Hi guys, I'm back . . . miss me? I did some wrestling with that 18i8, but it beat me. I used the Scarlett Mix Control software for Gen1 Scarletts and set it to feed the DAW output to the monitor and headphone jacks and it worked as a single-bus DAC, but after one reboot of the host PC it simply stop...

About QjackCtl's Patchbay and aj-snapshot

Hi, my application is a radio station air chain where having the computer handling the audio hit the ground running on reboot is essential. I'm a shell scripting kind of guy, very old school, got started on BSD UNIX back in the days of old when knights were bold. So my plan is to Launch QjackCtl on ...

USB audio interfaces mute when Ubuntu Studio 22.04 reboots - weird

It took me ages to figure out why I wasn't getting sound from my two USB audio interfaces I'm using in QjackCtl -- System Settings > Sound and I found them muted. After reboots they seem to wake up muted, randomly. How can I stop this unexpected behavior? Thank you!

Re: JACK -- isn't QjackCtrl supposed to reconnect things?

Okay, so in the case of zita-mu1, and let's say I want to connect to input sockets 1L/1R from client No.1, and to input sockets 2L/2R from client No.2, I would Add Client "zita\-mu1" (that's how it appears) and Plugs "in_1\.L" and "in_1\.R" and connect my first client t...

Re: JACK -- isn't QjackCtrl supposed to reconnect things?

Thank you! So I have to take whatever I've rigged up in Graph and duplicate it into Patchbay for Saving and Loading and persistence. Seems clunky. I thought computers were supposed to do such drudgery automagically. [ EDIT ]: I have several clients with multiple input and output ports. In Patchbay I...

JACK -- isn't QjackCtrl supposed to reconnect things?

Hi, I really appreciate the help I'm getting here from the community, JACK is new to me and I'm running into little puzzles and things that you all have been helping me with immeasurably! Here's another: I have a JACK-aware command line program that I'm running in the background (darkice). Darkice i...

Re: Mute/unmute a JACK/ALSA output from command line?

Hey, thank you! It looks like the target card has no controls that amixer can find. Other cards return simple controls with amixer but this one returns empty -- it is too dumb to have any kind of mute controls that I can get my hands on.

Mute/unmute a JACK/ALSA output from command line?

Okay you smart people, here's yet another question: Is there a command that can be used in Terminal that will mute/disable the audio coming from a Playback card, then a complementary command that will unmute/enable the device?

Thank you!

I'll be hornswoggled -- use Device= jack and it works like a charm! Thank you!

Oh, no -- that's far too simple. I'll give it a try! Thank you!

JACK/ALSA how to connect Darkice?

This is not a question about Darkice - the Icecast source-client program, it's a more general question about how to make a connection to it in my JACK setup. Darkice wants to get its audio input from a hardware device, such as a Capture card. The documentation states: "Device Input. Here, you s...

Re: Why does starting JACK as systemd also load Pulseaudio?

I thank you all for the assistance. In the past I have looked at QjackCtl, and poked at QjackCtl, and tried to understand QjackCtl and every time I have given up trying to get it to work. This current project I bringing nearly to completion forced me to use JACK so, oh well, roll up sleeves and hack...

Re: Why does starting JACK as systemd also load Pulseaudio?

Hey, thanks for the helpful information! Seems that in QjackCtl > Setup > Parameters, setting the MIDI Driver to "None" made those pesky entries go away. As for removing Pulse/Pipe . . . I hesitate to do that because I don't have enough experience to know whether ALSA/JACK will start whini...
