My advice would be to always try with a live ISO first, its always good to see how far you get with a standardized fresh distro... e.g. UbuntuStudio (don't forget to add the Pipewire PPA ) Linux Mint 21.2 64-bit The Pipewire PPA would also be recommended for your Mint install - Pipewire is still ver...

Well, too many variables here...
I think it would be best to try with a live ISO first, so you can rule out some and prove that you are having some issue in your Setup...:
- AVLinux for Classic Jack/PulseAudio Setup
- UbuntuStudio for Pipewire (don't forget to add the Pipewire PPA)

Change-log: Ctrl+left or middle-button click-dragging for panning, is now a lot smoother, hopefully. Click-dragging with the mouse middle-button is for panning only, not to start a selection anymore.
