Fun track. I wonder about the Autechre tag though... well, maybe Incunabula?

Re: system randomly performs much worse
I am not new to this, did a massive amount of tweaking last year til I got my Mint system working the way I wanted. Mint has a very handy Timeshift backup app. You definitely should use it to create backups both before and after messing around. Can and will save you a lot of time and frustration.

Re: HI. And about controllers and sequencers
Now that I have sound from the LPK25 controller with Qsynth, what is the next step for recording the midi data and saving it? Depends. Without using a DAW, you could just open a terminal, run aconnect -i find the port number of your midi controller (eg 20), then run arecordmidi -p 20 mymidirecordin...

Re: HI. And about controllers and sequencers
Thanx. I've gotten some sound from the controller and Qsynth but I guess I will need something more complicated like Rosegarden to record midi? Recording midi is probably easiest to do in a midi sequencer/DAW, yes. Especially if you want to edit your recording afterwards. And then you can use any n...

Re: HI. And about controllers and sequencers
OK. That worked. I'm on my way now. Can I record the sounds and use them in audacity? Don't see why not..There are 1000ths of other soundfonts on the web by the way. From utter crap to quite nice. Some containing just a single instrument, some containing entire collections (like the fluid-gm one).

Re: HI. And about controllers and sequencers
Thanx. I want something easy to get started until I can do the more complicated suggestions. I do not want to buy anything. Looks like Pianoteq is a commercial product. Can I get some easy set up in the Linux software manager? Qsynth. You may need to install a soundfont manually. sudo apt install f...

Re: HI. And about controllers and sequencers
Pianoteq! Running the demo is imo the most quick, hassle free way to start playing some music. No need for Jack either. Runs like a charm on Pulseaudio with 2.9 ms latency on my pc.

Re: Disgusted with Windows... (and who among us isn't?)
Remind me again because I forgot after almost 20 years: what is your biggest (quote) 'disgust' with Windows? I imagine that the reasons are different now than twenty years ago. I'm starting to remember some things now. The Registry was a very important one... Starting with Windows 8.1, I'd had to d...

Re: Disgusted with Windows... (and who among us isn't?)
Remind me again because I forgot after almost 20 years: what is your biggest (quote) 'disgust' with Windows? Hmm. Every time I read something like this, I think, you only got disgusted just now ? So, Windows 11 was the straw? But Windows 10 was fine? And Windows 8? MMMkayy... But seriously, I only ...

Re: Cannot Export MIDI or wav Files from Hydrogen
Does it only export complete songs? I was trying to export a pattern, "I want to export a pattern as a .mid or .wav file, but I don't see that option in Hydrogen's file menu" If it's not on the menu it's probably not possible. Try opening a feature request on https://github.com/hydrogen-m...

Re: Issue With Percussion in Fluidsynth Plugins in QTractor - Only in Playback
So I think this is "fixable" with a MIDI plugin that delays note off events. Unfortunately I didn't find one so I am afraid this has to be coded, for example in mididings. With x42's midi event filter one can block note-off events, which may solve the issue with recording drumtracks, with...
