Re: Is It Possible To open Muse in Safe Mode?

I succeeded with the plugin scan, and now have GPO working on the Aria Player. I'll stay with Ubuntu Studio so this this can be considered closed.

Re: Is It Possible To open Muse in Safe Mode?

None of the commands will work for some reason. I couldn't open Muse 4, but I could open Muse 3. So I went back to Ubuntu Studio, on a different drive. (I was on AVLinux when the problem occurred). Now have Muse 4 going, and plan to keep using that, applying what I learned so far. Everything is work...

Is It Possible To open Muse in Safe Mode?

Muse won't boot, due to something I did (installed Windows Vsts). It was working fine until I added some scan paths to the plugin directory, and now I get error messages that it can't find the directories and I should reinstall. If I could just get it to open, I could then undo the changes I made. b...

Re: Best Way To Use Wine In AVLinux?

Okay, I think I have it! The step that was missing was adding /usr/local/lib/vst to Muse's scan path. I now have the Aria Player up and it loads Garritan Personal Orchestra files. I authorized it by importing the license, which is a .png photo keycard. It's rather unorthodox, but you just pretend yo...

Re: Best Way To Use Wine In AVLinux?

Thanks again Gmaq. Not being harsh at all. Your manual is about the best manual i have ever seen, and clearly shows the tremendous level of commitment you have in this project. I'm one of those right-brained people who process info differently than most. analytical things sometimes throw me. I will ...

Re: Best Way To Use Wine In AVLinux?

Hi, The current release of AV Linux comes with Wine-Staging and LinVST all set up already so no need to install Play on Linux or anything like that, in fact installing that may try to install a different version of Wine or something and screw up what's already there There is detailed information ab...

Re: Best Way To Use Wine In AVLinux?

Well I have made some progress. I got sforzando up and running in Carla, inside Muse. This is actually farther than I ever got last year with Reaper. Then I could only get standalone vsts running, but not inside Reaper. Carla seems much eaiser than Linvst or Yabridge. Working now on GPO, hopefully w...

Best Way To Use Wine In AVLinux?

I would like to install Garritan Personal Orchestra and use it in Muse. What is the best way to do this? Play On Linux? Just click on the exe. file and run it, since wine is already installed in AVLinux? What about the Wine Prefix? And how do you actually open your C Drive? I can't find mine. Last n...

Re: Why the notation editor is so important

Here's a bit more info on how to use Score View on Muse.: Problem 1: If you open all instruments in score window, selecting an instrument to edit it can take 4 seconds if you have a lot of insts, like 30 for example. This slows down your workflow. Assuming you do editing in the score view, which I d...

Re: What Can (and can't) YaBridge Do?

I doubt your negative descriptions of your skills are accurate, and if they are, just work to improve them. Most of us here are aware of improvements we can work towards. Creating rewarding music isn't always easy, but we can generate much of our own good luck. And it's fun and. There probably is a...

Re: Need Help With Sound, Routing Etc.

Just a quick update: I'm on AV Linux now, finally got it downloaded. The latest version. Still at the configuring stage, so no sound yet. I see that it already has wine staging, wine asio, and Linvst. That will certainly make things a bit easier. Hopefully will be actually using Muse sometime this w...

Re: Why the notation editor is so important

I am new to Linux as well as MusE. I have the new MusE 4 version, and regarding the score editor I can say that it lacks some options such as setting the key, displaying several staves at the same time. Could the developers of the program add these options? Cakewalk's Score Editor is a good example...

Re: Need Help With Sound, Routing Etc.

most of the sounds in VPO are from NBO. vpo is culled from 3 main, free orchestras: nbo, sonatina, and versilian. Most sounds are from nbo, followed by sonatina, and just a little versil. If you want to hear comparisons of the latter 3: https://soundcloud.com/j_e_f_f_g/spf-shootout https://soundclo...

Re: Need Help With Sound, Routing Etc.

My USB Steinberg UR-22 works fine, which means I can continue using the 2496 on my old Gateway for premium audio streaming. Got Muse up and running, with sound. Got Fluidsynth synth going. It's multi-timbral, and I was able to load all 16 channels with soundfonts, from flutes to basses. So far so g...

Re: Can Linux really handle all genres of music?

But my main problem is the orchestral instruments, the choir, and cultural instruments. For orchestral, I need sections split up, not full string combo. I mean 1st violins 2nd violins etc. And the choir is the one that really frustrates me because synth sounds in choir samples, just sound like an a...
