Re: (SOLVED)Trying To Get Valhalla To Work
About yabridge, since linvst has already made .so versions, I would make one new unique path, just for testing yabridge, and put some uncomplicated plugins there. Set you daw to see just that unique path, for the duration of the test, then, use the parts below, inserting your new unique path where ...

Re: (SOLVED)Trying To Get Valhalla To Work
The Valhalla plugins work with LinVst. in fact they are one of the most wine compatible plugins out there imo. That's why I use them for testing every now and then for testing LinVst development. Testing, such as automation of parameters etc and then comparing the results with Valhalla plugins runn...

Re: Trying To Get Valhalla To Work
Solved it using Linvist. I tried yabridge, but I still haven't figured it out. But I found what i was doing wrong with Linvist (just some navigation errors).
Demoing it now. Sounds pretty good, but not sure I'll buy it yet, need more testing.

Re: Trying To Get Valhalla To Work
Thanks. I guess I should give Yabridge a try. I use Linvst because I know how to do it. Getting old and set in my ways, I guess...

(SOLVED)Trying To Get Valhalla To Work
I downloaded Valhalla Room demo, and used Linvst to convert it. But the .dll files are greyed-out, so it can't select them to do the conversion. I have used Linvst for several other things and did not have this problem. I believe I did see that someone had it working on Linux, in this forum. I'm usi...

Re: Can the Linux Reaper load Windows VST plugins?
I'm using Reaper For Linux, and am running Garritan Personal Orchestra and the NI kontakt player. I used Linvst for them. Once installed correctly, they work just like they do in Windows. While many people are using Yabridge, Linvst still works very well, and the Vst3 version works as well. Both pro...

Re: installing NI komplete kontrol on linux
I don't know if this will help, but here is a thread from the Reaper For Linux forum, detailing a similar problem:
https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=264442
I was able to install the Kontakt Factory Library this way.

Re: Do any serious music enthusiasts use Linux?
what you describe might just be one of the reasons that serious people, who simply want to enjoy making or producing music, skip Linux. Let's be honest, most people who want to make music probably don't even know that Linux exists, let alone JACK and ALSA. They didn't make a decision to skip Linux,...

Re: Do any serious music enthusiasts use Linux?
Good point. However, I do not know how to achieve anything in a DAW without JackAudio. I connect midi keyboards to VST's etc., etc. in QJackCtl. Maybe audio and midi connections can be done with Alsa on the command line but I wouldn't know how... Maybe that's because the first thing that Linuxers a...

Free Numa Player From Studiologic
Found this today somewhere (Reddit?):
https://www.studiologic-music.com/products/numaplayer/
It's a neat player with pianos, harpsichords, strings and more. Pretty decent sound and a lovely GUI. It's VST3 and works with LinVst3. I just loaded it into Reaper, and it works great!

Re: Can Linux really handle all genres of music?
The short answer then to the question posed by this thread is, yes, Linux can handle any kind of music. If I were to buy Cinematic Woodwinds and Brass from the guys who make Cinematic Strings, I would have a high-end orchestral library that would work perfectly on Linux. The future looks bright! Th...

Re: Can Linux really handle all genres of music?
If anyone is still interested in this: I am now using Ubuntu Studio, and I have Cinematic Strings working in the Kontakt Player. Also Garritan Personal Orchestra 4, which uses sfz files. The Aria Player is working perfectly. No difference from being on Windows in terms of performance or GUI. I used ...

Re: Obituary thread for musicians
Procol Harem is one of my five favorite bands. they were unique in their sound as well as the subject matter of their songs. Gary Brooker was the pianist, lead vocalist and songwriter. Without him it would have been an interesting band; with him it was one of the best. "A Whiter Shade Of Pale&q...

Re: Need Help With Sound, Routing Etc.
I went back to Ubuntu Studio after borking up AVLinux. but I have solved the problem more or less so this thread can be closed. I have Muse4 running with Garritan Personal Orchestra 4 on the Aria Player. got that going with Linvst, which I finally figured out.
