Re: Current state of Kontakt, Kontakt Player and Native Access?

Hello all, I'm also unable to run Native Access.exe after downloading. Have any of you experienced an error where a tiny dialogue box appears on-screen that says "Windows System Tray," and then the installation program fails to load? I'm on Ubuntu 20.04 and have been using Wine to run a lo...

Re: Audient ID4

HI there, Apologies for resurrecting an ancient thread, but had a question about this. I recently got an ID4 MKII, and when I start up Jack w/ Ubuntu Studio Controls w/ the ID4 it sets off a constant stream of xruns, with nothing else running. Focusrite 2i2 was working fine before. I'm using Ubuntu ...

Audient ID4 MKII compatibility?

Hi all, I'm currently working with a Scarlett 2i2, using it mainly for guitar, but thinking of upgrading sometime soon to a better interface with improved A/D conversion and instrument preamp. I've read great things about the Audient ID4 MK II, and some say it works out of the box on Linux systems, ...

Re: Xruns with low DSP & CPU loads?

For the Liquorix kernel, adding threadirqs to kernel boot options should help noticeably. I also found for Intel CPUs disabling C-States helps too; Liquorix disables P-States by default and also defaults to performance governor. Disabling c-states is an interesting idea. I assume it'll probably sho...

Re: Xruns with low DSP & CPU loads?

Just an update here: after following the other suggestions I also switched to the Liquorix kernel, and seems to have made an appreciable difference. I ran guitarix/jack with youtube videos playing in the background for an hour and a half, & only got 4 Xruns, so that seems pretty acceptable. I th...

Re: Xruns with low DSP & CPU loads?

Do you have threadirqs loaded? Use $ cat /proc/cmdline to find out. It seems you have a more complicated problem so if you could say a bit more about your setup, like laptop or desktop? what is the audio interface? that may help track the problem down. Sure. I'm pretty certain I have threadirqs. Wh...

Re: Xruns with low DSP & CPU loads?

If everything is set up well a buffer size of 128 should be no problem. 64 should work as Guitarix is pretty light and efficient. It's a good idea to run realtimeconfigquickscan when a Linux audio machine is first set up. https://github.com/raboof/realtimeconfigquickscan What you're describing soun...

Xruns with low DSP & CPU loads?

Hi everyone, New linux musician/producer here, trying to get the most optimal setup I can (lowest latency with fewest Xruns, basically). My crude understanding is that more Xruns should come with higher DSP and/or CPU load, but I consistently get them at low loads for both (around 12-20% or so). I'm...

Re: For recording electric guitar, Focusrite 2i2 2nd or 3rd gen?

Thanks all for the advice. Just as a quick follow-up question: was it necessary to download any drivers/register the device on Windows before it was compatible with Linux? Or was it just plug-and-play in Linux?

For recording electric guitar, Focusrite 2i2 2nd or 3rd gen?

hi everyone, I'm new to audio production on linux and am looking to get started recording and tracking electric guitar. I've looked at a lot of commentary and, as far as audio interfaces go, it seems the FocusRite 2i2 is easily compatible with linux systems, despite the lack of official support from...
