Re: Recording output from Bitwig with ffmpeg and JACK
Any ideas why the audio is not recorded? Are you sure your sound is connected to the jack client, "jack_out.monitor", you are creating? After you launch that command you should connect Bitwig to that, unless you have something that will autoconnect it for you. That's the thing - I'm not s...

Re: Kemper VS Helix
I've been playing with plugins Helix Native, Amplitube and Neural DSP. Neural DSP sounds the best to my ear, so now I am curious about the Quad Cortex floor unit as well, but ѕhit, it costs a fortune. I wish they had smaller versions like Line 6 does. Do you run the Helix Native and Neural DSP in L...

Re: Kemper VS Helix
Slightly OT but I'd be interested to know if the Neural Quad Cortex works OOTB in Linux. It doesn't need a driver installed for Mac so good chance it does work. It's highly rated as one of the best guitar interfaces currently available. I've been playing with plugins Helix Native, Amplitube and Neu...

Recording output from Bitwig with ffmpeg and JACK
So I'm trying to record video and audio simultaneously. Video is from a webcam and works fine, audio should be coming from Bitwig that is using the JACK server. I'm playing guitar using modeling plugins in Bitwig. There is no sound though when playing the video file. So I guess I'm doing something w...

Re: Audio Cards that work with Linux. Recommendations?
There's also a Focusrite Scarlett. I haven't tried one myself but I have seen posts from people who have it working, and there is a thread here at Linux Musicians about a GUI control panel for gen2/3 scarletts. Behringer -- UMC range Focusrite -- Scarlett range I've got a "Behringer UMC204HD&q...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2nd and 3rd Gen standalone mode
The GUI app looks awesome, though I'm struggling a bit with the install. Did anyone manage to install it on Ubuntu 20.04 by any chance? What errors are you getting? So I think I kinda have an idea of what's wrong. Unlike more "progressive" distros, Ubuntu 20.04 doesn't have gtk4 lib and f...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2nd and 3rd Gen standalone mode
hi geoffrey, I have installed AVL since a few months . Last night I installed the liquorix 5.15-14.1~buster Kernel, because I get that tip from the AVL-Forum. Now my question here : are there the same capabilities in this kernel as in your 5.15 kernel. I bought the Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 8 months a...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 3rd Gen or a good alternative?
PC ---- audio cable's shield ---- Speakers | | +--Ground----------------------------+ The Loop OK, I'm gonna get the TRS balanced cables tomorrow and see if the hissing is gone. My crystal ball tells me: WIth a balanced cable there will still be a ground loop. But the audio signal doesn't use the s...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 3rd Gen or a good alternative?
That could be a ground loop. Using the laptop on its battery would take ground out of the equation. Even a laptop plugged into its power pack doesn't always have a good path to ground. Macs don't for example. A ground loop happens when there are two or more paths to ground. In your case one path to...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 3rd Gen or a good alternative?
Now I have the good old 2i2 2nd gen, but it's causing hiss in my studio monitors and I've narrowed down the cause to USB bus power. How did you narrow it down? I don't see how an independent power supply would make any difference. When you say 'hiss' do you mean white noise? Or is it more of a 'hum...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 3rd Gen or a good alternative?
So I'm a bit more confused now. 3rd gen Scarletts are around for 2 or so years now and I've read people's reports (on this very forum even) using them, apparently all they had to do is set up the device once on Windows. So it is usable even without the kernel 5.14? What exactly does that new kernel ...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 3rd Gen or a good alternative?
So I just placed an order for Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 3rd gen and then realized something. Shit. The new gen Line/Inst switches are now software only, right? That means no support for linux, right? Now I have the good old 2i2 2nd gen, but it's causing hiss in my studio monitors and I've narrowed dow...
