Re: Pipewire for pro audio
I must admit I feel a little lost with this whole pipewire thing. I'm working wit Pop!_OS, so my time has come I have to face the "enemy". I find the transition to pipewire not really well documented for me as Pulse/Jack/ALSA user with a perfect running set-up. Also I'm not a computerscien...

Zoom G3Xn linux software
At ToneLib they have experimental Linux (Ubuntu build, can't find link to source files) software available mostly for guitarists. https://tonelib.net/downloads/ Did open ToneLib GFX and ToneLib JAM, needs work, doesn't really work on PulseAudio, have to try with Jack. ToneLib Zoom is working flawles...

Re: Connect Millenium HD-120 e-drum kit to MIDI in Ardour
"About why the plugin doesn't load, no clue" I think I do now. I try to install everything Ardour and Music production related on the fastest Disk (M.2 NVME on my system (together with the OS and most Programs). My home folder is on a different less fast Disk (also M.2 but bigger and slowe...

Re: Connect Millenium HD-120 e-drum kit to MIDI in Ardour
I tried AVL Drum kit. I see it installed on my system, it's in the proper place, I see it show up in Ardour 6, but no luck https://i.imgur.com/D1Yqx7W.png https://i.imgur.com/skEjVNP.png I can't see anything related in the log window, Last view entries show some latency issues with my audio interfac...

Re: So, I'm building the best possible home studio ... for my budget
Got 1 MIDI device connected. A M-Audio Keystation Mini32. Took me some time though. Keyboard is just for having it laying around to play with. Seem to work in Ardour, all buttons seem functioning (Volume, Sustain, Octave). Velocity is working (not the nicest key feel). Did have some trouble getting ...

Re: New Member from the Netherlands
Hi there. We've chatted in the topic about your (nice) home studio setup. I'm also from Holland (which you might have guessed) but I'm from the west/the coast (South Holland). I'm into Pink Floyd mainly. But I also like 70's Funk nowadays and your average basic electro and, back in the day, Techno ...

Re: So, I'm building the best possible home studio ... for my budget
Reaper is really a full fledged DAW. Lot of friends of mine use it for live stuff. Reaper is cheap, and works under Windows, Mac and Linux. I'm the only one in my circles daring to go all GNU/Linux and opensource (if possible).

Re: Ardour 6.8 Linux Mint on 2014 MacBook Pro
I'm no expert, but maybe you need the Jack Audio server to connect things in you system? https://jackaudio.org/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6zP1kBiG0c I had a few difficulties with installing jack (I use Pop!OS 20.04). Starting and stopping it was not really clear to me, I installed Ubuntu Stud...

Re: So, I'm building the best possible home studio ... for my budget
Decided to go for Ardour 6 for the time being. It being open source fits the challenge I set myself to keep my studio free and open. I already made an donation.

Connect Millenium HD-120 e-drum kit to MIDI in Ardour
I could use some help connecting my Millenium HD-120 e-drum kit to MIDI in Ardour. I just build myself a little all Digital Studio (https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?p=135679#p135679), I did work with MIDI before, but on the level plugging in a keyboard or studio interface somewhere appropria...

Re: So, I'm building the best possible home studio ... for my budget
It seems that the flatpack version of Ardour is to sandboxed to play in without to much trouble. Be aware that the flatpak has constraints on loading plugins . The short story is that apparently you can only load plugins installed as flatpaks. Thanks. Useful info. I understand the need for things l...

Re: So, I'm building the best possible home studio ... for my budget
I got Ardour 6 working by uninstalling the flatpack found in the repo, and install an Ardour 6 backport (https://launchpad.net/~ubuntustudio-ppa ... -backports).
It seems that the flatpack version of Ardour is to sandboxed to play in without to much trouble.

Re: So, I'm building the best possible home studio ... for my budget
That was weird. Inputs 3 & 4 of the UMC404HD showed up on my Computer (both in Jack and in PulseAudio), could see the lights light up on the device on channel 3 & 4, but no audio. My System OS: Pop!_OS 20.04 LTS (kernel 5.13.0-9.1-liquorix-amd64) After some digging around I went into AlsaMix...
