The Solid State Logic SSL 2+ works flawlessly under AV Linux. I've been using it for a couple of years now.

Re: Can't hear YouTube Audio with Bitwig open
OK,..I came back to Linux to try again. I still haven't solved this issue, but I have discovered that this is a Bitwig problem. Apparently, Bitwig doesn't want to share audio duties with other apps. Bitwig takes over all audio control, and leaves other apps out of the party. I found a workaround, us...

Re: Can't hear YouTube Audio with Bitwig open
Well, just call me the Clark Griswald of the Linux Musicians community, because I still can't get audio to play in the browser with a DAW loaded. After nearly 5 months of trial and error, Linux has turned into a failed experiment for me, as far as music is concerned. I really tried, guys. I really d...

Can't hear YouTube Audio with Bitwig open
It pretty much does this with any DAW under Jack. Bitwig, Ardour, Mixbus, and Reaper. However under Pulse Audio in Reaper, I can hear audio from both sources, but then MIDI from my SL25 controller doesn't work. I'm trying to transcribe songs from YouTube, and I just want to hear my keys as I figure ...

Re: Trouble installing AAS vst plugins in AVL-MXE
OK. I got them to install. They're installed in a .wine folder.
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Common Files/VST2/
The AAS plugins are all there in both .so and .dll. format. Looks good...
Now,... getting my DAWs to see and play them. That's the next step.
Getting closer.

Re: Trouble installing AAS vst plugins in AVL-MXE
Thanks everyone.
Frankly, I overthought it.
I figured since those stock VSTs were in the /usr/local/lib/vst folder, then that's where they should be installed.
My mistake. I'll let Wine do the work on my next attempt.

Trouble installing AAS vst plugins in AVL-MXE
Hi, I'm running AVL-MXE, and I'm having trouble installing Applied Acoustics Systems plugins in WINE. I keep getting this message: ksnip_20210725-213321.png Clicking Retry does nothing. If I click Ignore, it continues and says installation is complete, yet the plugin is missing in the assigned folde...

Re: From Mac to Linux
Qjackctl > Setup > Settings tab, select interface.
But if ALSA is working fine, use it until you need more complex routing.

Thank you. JACK is now routing audio through my audio interface beautifully.
I really appreciate everyone's help and knowledge. Cheers to you all.

Re: From Mac to Linux
EUREKA! Bitwig finally installed! Thanks guys. I couldn't have done it without your help. One curious thing... In Ubuntu Studio, I was able to use JACK with my audio interface, and for some reason in AVL-MXE, JACK is sending the audio out of the laptop speakers instead of the interface. But, if I us...

Re: From Mac to Linux
Hi, Well Ubuntu syndrome strikes again.. Many developers seem to think the latest Ubuntu IS Linux and they don't think of compatibility with other slightly older LTS and Stable distros. The problem with Bitwig and AVL-MXE or ANY Distro based on the current Debian Stable (Buster 10) is they want to ...

Re: From Mac to Linux
Thanks everyone for the quick response. Much appreciation. The more I thought about it, the more I think I should stay with a distro that is preconfigured for audio production, like AV Linux or Ubuntu Studio. I'll try configuring another distro at a later date. I'm gonna try and contact the AV Linux...

From Mac to Linux
Greetings everyone. (Shout out to Arnout for activating my account. Thank you.) Linux newbie here, preparing to make the eventual leap from Mac to Linux in the future. I've been experimenting with Linux over the last couple of months, on an old 2009 MacBook Pro, doing some distro hopping, before lan...
