Re: Please, use stderr and stdout properly!

Ah that line is in nsm.h, that's why all NSM clients print this to stderr

Re: Audiogridder

How does is compare to running netjack? It's a totally different way of working. Audiogridder will make the GUI of the plugin from the remote server appear directly within you plugin host - Ardour or whatever, whereas with netjack you have to open a terminal on your host, run netjack, then do all t...

Re: What session managers do people prefer?

Program arrange is something I started to work on, but anyway, there is no perfect way to arrange a canvas, some algorithms will be nice in some situations but not in others, and it also depends on user tasks. By experience of what I have written, it can be very nice to make more clear complex situ...

NSM, desktop key

Forgive me my ignorance, but I don't really see why two keys are needed here. https://github.com/jackaudio/new-session-manager/issues/96 Having two keys for just NSM seems to be overkill, moreover, you get these situation where devs implement one key, but should implement two keys in that particular...

Re: What session managers do people prefer?

Ok one more. What if one would add more NSM functionality to the patchbay. What if I could launch a NSM client from let's say dmenu, it appears in the patchbay and from there I would be able to not only hide and show NSM clients, but also resume, stop and remove them (one has to think out how to dis...

Re: What session managers do people prefer?

Then it also would need the root dir, that's right, but that's only at announce. I think it's this: "/nsm/gui/session/name" When a session changes. Note, I'm just thinking if such thing would possible (it probably is), what the best way to do this is and after that if its worth and desirab...

Re: What session managers do people prefer?

Otherwise also the session folder should be passed to the patchbay Nah it could get the session dir from the server when it announces itself as patchbay, like it works with the NSM GUI. The only thing then left is sending the save signal to something that's not a NSM client (the patchbay). Not sure...

Re: Bipscript v0.18

bipscript uses a dedicated graphical IDE? Is it possible to use it as nvim plugin instead? For the nvim user this would improve things obviously, but another benefit would be that you aren't tight to a graphical environment that way.

Re: What session managers do people prefer?

Perfectly, It's really bad but totally possible. Why it is so bad? Less ideal I believe you, but Patchage (by drobilla) has a shortcut to reorganize the patchbay. Such thing could work probably. If you've to to save a file, then the patchbay is related to or tight to a loaded session right? It has ...

Re: What session managers do people prefer?

If what you call 'the patchbay' is the GUI part of the patchbay, no, it also share to daemon canvas positions, because we need to save them in the session folder. Is it possible to not save the canvas position (in theory) and let the patchbay not save a file? Of course you'll loose the possibility ...

Re: What session managers do people prefer?

http://raysession.tuxfamily.org/ray_working_scheme.png When I double click on the client in the canvas, it's sends a osc msg to the ray-daemon I suppose (show/hide)? So do I miss in the picture, a green line back to the ray-daemon from the client? When I stop the client, it just stops and it's not ...

Re: What session managers do people prefer?

> I can imagine some kind of release schedule where a experimental feature is released first with a /raysession/... address, and if there is 'community-wide' consensus (good luck ;) ), it will be added to a /neonsm/ api. /neonsm, cause ideally I would keep the original API untouched, but this would...

Re: What session managers do people prefer?

Mwah, you think a bit too easy about this I think. Have you ever tried to imagine how the original nsmd author must feel? What if non-session-manager was raysession instead? Just think about it, not asking for a real answer. You call it paranoia, but without judgement, fact is that I'm currently blo...

Re: What session managers do people prefer?

> one can't just add things to the NSM API on the client side imo. I find this a bit careless No, no problem at all, I just said to others that I added the ':monitor:' capability and how it works. Now, if someone wants to do something similar but not exactly, it is perfectly possible, the only need...

Re: What session managers do people prefer?
