Re: Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 not producing output?

Not sure about the Focusrite, but can speak to latency in Mint 20.3. Default setup with no tweaks I can do 256 ify and 512 solid on a 2Ghz dual core. If I do the tweaks suggested by rtconfigscan script and install Liquorix kernel I can do a solid 48k/64/3 unless I get into some really intensive IR p...

Re: Is it possible to run Ubuntu Studio headless?

If you are okay with command line you can use a ssh connection with X forwarding. Install the ssh server package on the remote machine. You may need to edit it's config file to enable X forwarding. Assuming that you have the same username on both on your local machine use ssh with options -XC to log...

Re: Noise Problems

I should test it more thoroughly, but my impression that the quality of the direct signal recording through the HX Stomp is not as good as the quality when using my direct box and going to the 2i2. By using a DI and going through the Focusrite mic pre you are getting colour from the pre. That can b...

Re: Noise Problems

Reading the manual... If you use the Stomp box USB interface and plug guitar into input L/mono then there is dry guitar on USB input 5 in your computer and processed audio on USB input 1-2 and 3-4. You can eliminate the Focusrite and the DI. Have you tried this? Is the sound quality from the Stomp i...

Re: Noise Problems

Sounds like ground loop. Not sure if it would make a difference but if I had to wire this configuration I would plug guitar into stomp box, use effects send bus to send dry signal to interface channel 1 and stomp out to interface channel 2. You can use DI between stomp and interface or engage interf...

Re: Anyone using a Mackie Onyx Artist 1.2?

OK, so I actually just bought one of these. They had an open box unit for half price and I was looking for a USB interface to plug into an Android TV box to use as a snapclient receiver. It is class compliant. Just plug it in and it works. To get JACK to start on it I had to set midi to none. Build ...

Re: USB Turntables and recording

It's probably just a matter of what the usbid got entered as in list. The first time that chip showed up it was probably in someone's new microphone.

I'll probably give up on JACK when they pry my mouse from my cold dead fingers.

Re: USB Turntables and recording

I believe to monitor this recording live would require using a different interface for the playback monitor. Unless specifically setup to resample I suspect the clocks drifting out of sync would cause the issues you describe. There are differences in quality of the digital chips that can certainly c...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2nd and 3rd Gen standalone mode

LTS releases get a bit dated by the time the next one rolls out for sure. Unlike QT, GTK doesn't have binary releases that you can download and install to /opt making it possible to run a newer version than the distro ships with. You can compile it from source and install to /opt but it's a big proc...

Re: Seeking advice on software for dedicated LMS touchscreen PC client

I didn't know Squeezeplay so googled it. What I found says that it runs on Linux too. You can install a different desktop environment like openbox or fluxbox and configure it down to the point where the only thing it does is launch your app on screen. I do this with fluxbox to start a dedicated Guit...

I've been using the Liquorix kernel for a while now and am happy with it.

Kernels shouldn't have dependencies. Not sure what is up with Ubuntu LL kernel.

If you are trying to start JACK on an HDMI device I don't think it will. No capture ports. At least I've never been able to start JACK on my HDMI.

Re: Z-curious... anybody using Zrythm for actual production?

If you've seen someone use Ableton on Windows it may be clearer. A typical user boots up their machine and clicks the Ableton icon. That's as much of Windows as they see. Yes, I hear that. Of course they always forget to mention that they had to install the driver for their audio interface before t...
