Re: Intel AI effects for Audacity

What is this all useful for? Noise Suppression: There is already lots of stuff for that available. Transcription Tool: I guess this is for video subtitles Music Generation tool: ?? Stem Separation: People who do sample based music seem excited by this tech but there are always nasty artifacts all ov...

Re: Need new tablet

Might be better to use a standalone camera instead. You'd get better picture quality.

Well, losing MIDI even just for one note would be totally unacceptable for me!

It wouldn't realistically be a situation that would be happening though. You wouldn't be running commands that will change the quantum whilst working on a song.

Re: What's the purpose of PipeWire's dynamic quantum setting?

This is going to cause havoc for those Jack programs that set their internal buffers to match the one received from Jack if it can arbitrarily change while they are running  Which programs are those? I tried changing the quantum setting whilst Ardour and MusE are playing and it causes no pro...

Re: What's the purpose of PipeWire's dynamic quantum setting?

The quantum/buffer can change whilst an application is running and it should change to that setting. Pipewire is designed that applications will themselves request a quantum and Pipewire will use the last lowest requested value. JACK applications generally don't do this so they will follow the value...

Script for setting quantum(buffer) in Pipewire

Pipewire is designed for applications to state the quantum(buffer) they wish to use. This is confusing for users used to JACK which specifies a buffer value that applications follow. As a result, if the application doesn't state quantum then the applications used the default set in the config file. ...

Re: Routing all sound from Ubuntu Studio to audio interface

It's very easy when using JACK and PA. Just open pavucontrol and make sure your default sink is PulseAudio JACK Sink. After that all the PA applications should output on the JACK device. Could you explain this a bit more? I don't see any such option in pavucontrol: When you click the drop down menu...

The surge devs are involved in CLAP development and they also have a dislike of LV2 IIRC.

Re: Yoshimi 2.3.1.2 now out there :)

Unfortunately it's not that easy. Some of these use the whole part controls such a mode set to mono, so to maintain this you can only save to the Yoshimi format (which includes all part level controls). Others have multiple parts set to the same incoming channel. You might be able to get round this...

Same here. I've heard that the PipeWire graph application cannot be simplified like good 'ol qjackctl (read: straight-line symmetrical connections in a table) because PW is like PulseAudio, Alsa and Jack all rolled into one. Reason for me to stick to Jack if I ever have to upgrade my distro. Gonna ...
