Re: Rick Beato and Ted Gioia: AI not being disclosed, fake music/fake creators

I haven't watched the video yet, but AI is really a game changer with both positive and negative effects. I currently hold a pessimistic view that the negative outweigh the positive and will lead to dystopian consequences. It is so pervasive as well - in social media it is affecting users' ability t...

Re: voxengo PHA-979 native alternative

Can it be you missed the crucial part of delaying the mirroring track? I've just tried the following in ardour: My vocal track is mono which is reasonable, isn't it. I create a send to an StereoAuxFX bus and tune it to exactly match the loudness of the original track (unity gain) and invert the pol...

Re: LinuxMusicians the FOSS-GNU/LINUX way!

On the other hand, everybody has the right to freely chose to give up his freedoms. Everyone has the right to choose what works for them. If you are a diehard FOSS advocate, you have the freedom to choose only FOSS tools. If you are pragmatic and choose to use non-FOSS tools because they work bette...

Also interesting, Rick Beato's look at the latest Spotify Top 10. 2 TS songs there and his comments are hilarious.

Re: Digital Crackle with USB Audio Interfaces

I'm not sure what you are referring to. I'm currently running 6.6.26-1-MANJARO with PREEMPT_DYNAMIC and I've already tried various kernel patches suggested by other MOTU AVB users here on the forum. With PREEMPT_DYNAMIC you may need to set kernel option preempt=full for full pre-emption. Probably n...

Re: How to delete my account

Just change your contact details to fake ones in your profile and change password to one you won't remember. If all your posts are deleted it breaks the flow of any topics you have contributed. That said, I'm pretty sure it is possible in phpBB to delete an account without deleting posts. Up to the ...

Re: scanning for new plugins

Just in case, check what TO value you have set in your config, here I have 15 seconds: grep plugin-scan-timeout ~/.config/ardour8/config <Option name="plugin-scan-timeout" value="150"/> You may the try a specific test and turn it very high, say 6000, and check again a scan, this...

Re: Obituary thread for musicians

Steve Albini has left us. I feel a bit sadder about losing people I respect and worked with, having done monitors for Shellac on a couple of wonderful shows in 2015.

Re: scanning for new plugins

Considering it takes seconds on my system, and you are the only one reporting extremely long scan times, it is most likely something on your system. If you watch the scan window while it is happening, does it appear to get stuck scanning any particular plugins?

It's her first post on this forum.
Give her a break.

 "who says he's a she?"
Now don't go off-topic here!

"heroina" means heroine in Croatian, so that could infer she-ness. Or it could be a reference to his/her drug of choice.

Re: scanning for new plugins

funkmuscle I just rescanned plugins after installing Airwindows Consolidated in Ardour 8.6.0 last night and it was very fast. Just rescanned now and it took a couple of seconds. It finds about 900 plugins, mainly LV2 and LADSPA with 42 VST2 and 25 VST3. I have noticed in the past it would occasiona...

Re: Airwindows Consolidated: Free Mac/Windows/Linux CLAP/VST3/AU/LV2!

Just trying this out now. It's wonderful! I've alway been a bit bamboozled by the sheer quantity of Airwindows plugins which makes it difficult to decide which to use of the hundreds available. This makes it simple to audition lots of them quickly. The new Stonefire is pretty wild. With gentle setti...

Re: Poor Usability - Why virtual Potentiometers (knobs) in Computer Audio Software, why?

I'm certainly no fan of skeuomorphic interfaces ie. those that try to exactly imitate hardware looks. I agree the Dexed UI is terrible. However I believe rotary and slider controls are quite useful for computers. I particularly like the style of Ardour; the faders are plain sliders with the value di...

Re: LinuxMusicians the FOSS-GNU/LINUX way!

I have the feeling, that almost every topic is about running proprietary software, or software for windows, or mac. Not sure why you have that feeling. Of 16 new posts today, only 2 are about non-Linux software. Sure there are always a few topics about Win/Mac software but that's because those soft...

Re: Slowly resigning myself to yet another reinstall...where to go?

I added kxstudio to my repositories list to get all the additional stuff not available in the Mate repos. It works very well. Be aware that some third party plugins, mainly those not developed by falktx, are not maintained regularly in KX any more so only older versions are in their repos. It's wor...
