Re: Viable soon?
Finding a decent audio interface that works in linux is a little annoying. From what I've researched though, as long as the device is class compliant (most/all devices that work on an iPad should be class compliant) it should work out of the box. The main thing is you have to research what functiona...

Re: Best USB audio interface <$1000
I ordered the Behringer UMC1820 and it is working perfectly for my needs. The amount of functionality & everything being supported out of the box just seemed better to me. All the functionality seems to work out of the box on Linux, and I have control over inputs/outputs and clock source in alsa...

Greetings!
Hello, hope everybody is keeping busy in these strange times. I just wanted to say hi and how ecstatic I am that there's such a great community for Linux musicians! I remember a few years ago when I was starting to get into recording, all I'd hear out there were things like "buy a mac" and...

Re: Best USB audio interface <$1000
I'm still looking into the Focusrite, it seems like there's some driver development underway (thread: https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=18862&start=90) for native linux mixer controls. Nice! The one thing that makes me second guess this one is the fact that it doesn't appear to ...

Re: Best USB audio interface <$1000
I just found one that seems almost perfect: Behringer UMC1820 See the following very informative article on the ardour forums: https://discourse.ardour.org/t/behringer-umc1820-and-ardour/89949 According to that, it supports *everything* I want in Linux! I'm pretty set on this interface now. The only...

Re: Best USB audio interface <$1000
I just found this product, looks very interesting: https://www.minidsp.com/products/usb-audio-interface/usbstreamer-box I'm not sure how that works though.. seems I need another device/converter to connect to optical in/out. I really *only* need 1 spdif input/output, though, so that might be the bes...

Best USB audio interface <$1000
Hello, I'm looking for the best audio interface for <$1000 (cheaper is better, but my main requirement is good compatibility) on Linux. My requirements are: - At least 1 S/PDIF input - At least 1 S/PDIF output - Ability to set interface to slave clock from within Linux (sounds like most interfaces s...

Re: How to set USB interface clock to Slave
Thank you so much for the replies! Those links are a serious help and I will investigate further. I actually don't have an audio interface yet - I wanted to ask my question before I buy one, since so many that work on linux are only "class complient" yet do not let you edit their settings ...

How to set USB interface clock to Slave
Hello, I'm interested in doing some recording on my Linux workstation with my Kemper profiler. From what I understand, the Kemper is set to always be the master clock and cannot be set to be the slave. This means I have to set my USB audio interface to slave mode. How do I do this though under linux...
