Re: kxstudio dependency problems
Thank you all! It was the audio-applications meta-package, which claimed to require carla-git while that was already installed. But the more I read the more I thought it is probably time to switch my audio distro again (I used Ubuntu Studio back in the day, then went to kxStudio when it still was a ...

Re: kxstudio dependency problems
Thank you! I am specifically searching for a suitable distro for audio production. As far as distros generally go, I am a classic Debian user: Maybe trying something else from time to time but always going back to Debian. This is also why the kxstudio option was attractive. I was really unhappy with...

Re: kxstudio dependency problems
@bluzee: Sorry, I don't understand what this means. @LAM: the offending package IS the meta-package for all the audio applications. True, I could circumvent this, if I knew what packages I want, but I don't. I still am not very seasoned with Linux Audio, and therefore prefer to have - apart from som...

kxstudio dependency problems
Hey all, like the title says: I am getting weird dependency problems with the kxstudio repos on a vanilla Debian Bullseye (the meta-packages don't install because of missing the package carla-git - but this is actually installed from these very repos). Is this a place where I could get help with tha...

Re: What is a "Professional"?
> As a person who may be reasonably 'handy' or 'DIY' do you constantly run into situations where a paid "professional" comes to your home or work to do something and they don't even seem to have the most elemental understanding of what they're doing?? Yess! I am not overwhelmingly skilled,...

Re: Komplete Audio 6 101
By individual controls I mean not just one knob for each channel, but also - per channel - a separate knob to control the input signal and a separate knob to boost the signal with a preamp, like you normally have in a mixing table. If I understand correctly, the KA6 does both with one knob. Maybe in...

Re: Komplete Audio 6 101
Ah, ok. On the last few millimeters of the gain the volume actually increases dramatically. Apparently NI has combined volume control and preamp into one knob, and the preamp only sets in at the very end. I'm not sure I like this. EDIT: And the headphones issue was also solveable - it came down to a...

Re: Komplete Audio 6 101
Ok, I am worried this is not a linux issue anymore, but I really have trouble using the KA6 sensibly. Both the volume of the headphones amp and at the in puts seems way too low. At the inputs I cannot get anywhere near decent volume with two Roland M5, even if I pull up the gain to almost full. (I d...

Thank you. Let me know if I can provide any more details. So far I didn't have that behaviour on a different phpBB forum that I use.

Re: Komplete Audio 6 101
Ah, thanks. Yes, sorry, qjackctl, of course. I didn't see the "advanced" panel (it's not in the main list of panels but lower down on a specific panel). This was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!

Re: Komplete Audio 6 101
Ok, I got a bit further.. apparently the USB cable was flawed (dmesg actually says "Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad?"!)
Now the device at least is visible on lsusb. But I still cannot see it anywhere in Jack or Ardour, but also don't know where to look.

logout - login
Dear Forum, I just created an account here. It seems that after a few clicks through the forum, or when I try to write a post, I get kicked out and then am asked to login again (I am here for about 15 minutes and logged in already 5 times [edit: 6]). Is this a problem on my end? I run a fairly vanil...

Komplete Audio 6 101
Dear all, After a few years of abstinence I am trying to get back into Linux audio/midi recording. For that I bought a Komplete Audio 6, installed Debian Stable and the kxstudio repositories. I am using Jack and Ardour, but it seems I cannot even get the basic setup under control.. - The system seem...
