Re: Focusrite Clarett USB

For both devices (Clarett 4Pre USB and Scarlett 18i8) you need to explicitly set the correct number of input channels, because not all combination of sample rates and channels count will work. You can also try the patch below: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound.git/commit/?i...

Maybe he just didn't notice this issue before. :)

Re: Crackling without xruns.. worse with large buffers

Nope, I've got a Scarlett 2i2 2nd gen and this popping and crackling and audio slowdown and robotic sounds are driving me sick ass crazy!! And you're right! Turned out 2i2 2nd gen and 2i4 2nd gen requires quirks in the driver. Someone sent patch for 2i2 2nd gen today: https://mailman.alsa-project.o...

to1ne wrote: Mon Apr 20, 2020 4:03 pm I'm curious where you see this?
In your alsa info. You can confirm that by looking into /proc/asound/EVO4/stream0. You should see 4 playback channels and 4 capture channels.

Re: Disable loopback on Audient EVO 4

Are you using alsa directly, pulseaudio or jack? Looks like the device has 4 channel IN and 4 channels OUT. So I guess that one pair of output channels (probably 1-2) is Main Monitor output and another pair of outputs (probably 3-4) is Loop-back send channels. As for inputs, one pair is mixed with L...

Re: Scarlett 18i8 3rd Gen - constant click noises but no xruns

Please post lsusb -v output for 18i8 3rd Gen. I don't think my patch in its current form is suitable for this card and I need to check this out.

PS. Latest patch for Scarlett 3rd Gen devices is here: viewtopic.php?p=117496#p117496

funkmuscle wrote: Sun Apr 19, 2020 6:32 pm Also I have an AMD processor so should it be modprobe acpi-cpufreq
or
modprobe powernow-k8
It's better to use acpi-cpufreq for AMD FX.

Re: Behringer UMC202HD and USB 3

Thanks. I'm just curious because I've read somebody had problems with Behringer and USB3, that disappeared when connected to version 2. On Windows 7? On linux 2.6.34? :) I don't think you will get troubles with USB3 on any modern OS. Of course there are some buggy chipsets like Intel X99, but gener...

Re: Thoughts on what audio interface to get

I think it's even worse. Look at Focusrite. They actively redesign their stuff to make people registering their hardware. Look at the Mass Storage Device mode of the Gen3 Scarletts and read magazines where those Gen3 Scarletts are "tested": Writers praise Focusrite because it's so easy to...

Re: Crackling without xruns.. worse with large buffers

Also stumbled over the Roland yesterday, cause you mentioned it. Is it better built than the Behringer and can you recommend it? I don't know. :) I can't compare device that I have with device that I've never had. So all of these can make problems? https://focusrite.com/en/scarlett I thought the Fo...

Re: Crackling without xruns.. worse with large buffers

What about the Behringer U-Phoria USB Interfaces? Do they have a better compatibility or which interface would you recommend? For the best compatibility with linux you should get an USB audio class compliant interface with Asynchronous endpoints and explicit feedback. So basically any XMOS-based in...
