Re: Scarlett 18i20 gen 3 Linux - Crackling Audio
Yeah, I was right. This device has implicit feedback endpoint. The following patch should fix the crackling sound:
Note that due to some limitations in snd-usb-audio driver, simultaneous playback and capture for devices with implicit feedback only works with jack.
Code: Select all

Re: Scarlett 18i20 gen 3 Linux - Crackling Audio
This sounds like a synchronization issue. This could be an incorrect synchronization type in usb descriptors (like with Scarlett Solo 2nd gen), or maybe the device is using an implicit feedback. Could you post lsusb -v -d output for this device?

Re: Thoughts on what audio interface to get
Roland Rubix series is fully class compliant and works out of the box. All functions are controllable by physical knobs/button/switches, so no need for any special support from driver. MOTU M2/M4 is also class compliant and is supported by latest kernels in 5.4/5.5 branches and newer. But be aware o...

Re: Scarlett 2i4 2nd Gen Ubuntu 18.04
The audio settings in the Ubuntu show that the profile for this card is Analog Surround 4.0 output. I think this might be the cause of this problem. The only problem with 4.0 output is that pulseaudio upmixes/downmixes everything to 4.0. This is OK for stereo sources since pulseaudio just duplicate...

Re: Scarlett 2i4 2nd Gen Ubuntu 18.04
If you have no sound from headphones, make sure that the "source" switch is set to "1-2". Also check that the outputs are not muted in alsamixer.r00t123 wrote:Hello,

Re: Motu M2 USB Interface on Linux
Another data point. I connected M2 to a Raspberry Pi 2, running Ubuntu Server 19.10, kernel 5.3.0-1014-raspi2 (32-bit) and it is playing back fine. Curious because it didn't work at all with Mint kernel 5.3.0.28 on an Intel laptop. I think it's pulseaudio that tries to interact with device before i...

Re: Motu M2 USB Interface on Linux
Well, my M4 hangs with linux 5.4.x without the patch, and there are very few changes in snd-usb-audio driver in 5.5.x. BTW, I checked the latest Windows driver from 2020-02-06, because "Improved audio startup timing" caught my eye in the changelog. Turned out, MOTU increased startup delay ...

Re: Motu M2 USB Interface on Linux
With VLC audio output module set to Pulseaudio, and Audio Device set to M2 Analogue Stereo I can see the volume meters waggling up and down in pavucontrol, but nothing can be heard. Seems like it's muted. My MOTU M4 hangs when connected to machine where Linux is already running. You might have the ...

Re: How to get phantom power input from Tascam US-4x4
I'm sorry, but it's not clear from your post what you mean exactly:
1. the interface doesn't supply phantom power?
2. no input at all (even from the sources that doesn't require phantom power)?

Re: Motu M2 USB Interface on Linux
i also tried avoid-resampling = yes but that led to regular crashes of the device (LCD meter froze and no sound at all). The device reinitializes every time the sample rate is changed. This results in a 2-5 seconds lag. So it is better to set some fixed rate ( default-sample-rate = alternate-sample...
